PlanetHoster has been in business since 2007 and they have grown quite well over that time. This is thanks largely to their high quality hosting services that they offer to customers throughout North America and Europe. They currently have over 40,000 customers serving more than 100,000 websites.
Their data centers are in Montreal, Canada and Paris, France. In addition to web hosting they also offer domain name registration, SSL certificates and other general web services.
Uptime & Reliability
Quality Web Hosting
They don’t offer any type of uptime guarantee that I was able to find, but their hardware is all very high end. You’ll also get solid state drives for most things, which adds significantly to your site’s reliability. The data centers they operate from are all state-of-the-art and have multiple layers of redundancy built in to help avoid down time. Of the people on social media and other places I looked I did not find any significant complaints about downtime either, which is a good sign.
Features
Simple Features
The features from this company are quite good, though the lists are very simple. For advanced webmasters who know what they are looking for it takes a little too much digging around to find the details of each package. Once you do get to them, however, they are quite reasonable.
The shared hosting starts at 60 gigs of disk space, unlimited bandwidth and unlimited domains. They just list this one base package for shared hosting, which is somewhat odd. For VPS solutions they offer all solid state drives, which is very nice. They also have options for multiple CPU cores and unlimited bandwidth. Finally, their dedicated servers provide you with eight cores and 48 gigs of RAM. You’ll also get two SSD’s and 2 SAS drives.
Support
Somewhat Limited Information
The tech support seems to be good from what I can tell, but they don’t provide too much information about it on their website. They provide a phone number and at least some hours of live chat, but that is all they say. I didn’t see any knowledge base or FAQ to learn more about hosting. They also didn’t provide details about where their support is located.
Pricing
Simple Pricing Structure
The pricing starts at just 6 Euro per month for the shared hosting package that they offer. If you move to a VPS it starts at 44.99 Euro. This is a fairly high end VPS so the price is fair for what you’re getting. Finally, the dedicated servers start at 250 Euro per month. Once again, this is for a very powerful machine so the price may be high but it is not unreasonable. It would be nice if they offered more packages to give you more pricing options.
