Namecheap Introduced the Most Popular 2021 TLDs and Domain Registration  Trends

Namecheap has revealed the most popular TLD and Domain Registration trends in its TLDs and annual industry report to provide insights into the global TLD registration trends for online entrepreneurs, small business owners, domain investors, and others.

Namecheap's banner

is the world’s second-largest domain registrar, with approximately more than 14 million domains under its management. The company was founded in 2000 by Richard Kirkendall, and it has been steadfast in satisfying the customers over its two decades of service.

According to their report the top 10 most most registered TLDs of the year are:.com , .xyz, .net, .club, .me, .org, .co, .shop, .info, and .live, in descending order.

The most popular on the list is the .com domain registered on March 15, 1985, and even after three decades, it remains the Internet’s top domain choice with more than three million registered. In turn, the second most popular domain is .xyz, which has grown and has more than 650,000 registrations this year.

The interesting fact on this list is that .me has seen a spike and jumped over to 5th place. This is also the first non-generic top-level domain (non-gTLD) on the list. This domain is also the best top ccTLD of the year.

The Domain Insights and Trends Report also includes the top 20 ccLTDs of 2021, .com vs. all other domain registrations, the 15 TLDs with best and worst renewal rates, and domain ownership data of the top 10 domains that were sold through an auction on the Namecheap Market.
