The Drupal application is packed with advanced features that help you extend the way your site functions. While there are over 1200 modules that are compatible with Drupal version 8, you still need to find additional modules to help you make your site better. For this reason, the Drupal community has developed other modules for the purpose of extending the functionality of the script.
In this tutorial, we will show you how to install and manage modules on Drupal 8.
Let’s get started.
Step 1: Finding And Installing Modules
The first step is to find the module you need and download it on your machine.
You can find a list modules at https://www.drupal.org/project/project_module. Set the filter option to Drupal version to help you narrow down your search from the over 24,000 modules available.
Once you have downloaded the module, you need to login to your account’s dashboard and navigate to the Manage section and click Extend.
On this page, you will be presented with a list of the available modules. Notice the ones that aren’t checked which means they’re not installed but available for installation. To enable these modules, select the checkbox next one that you prefer. Scroll down and press the Install new module button.
Now click the link to open the modules. This can be opened on the official Drupal page in the Modules section.
On this page, you will be looking at specific modules accompanied by version compatibility. Choose one that fits your needs.
On the next screen, select the archive that contains the module you downloaded earlier or simply copy and paste the link in Drupal and press the Install button to proceed.
The installation may take a couple of minutes, and once it’s complete, you will receive a message showing that the process is done.
Step 2: Enabling And Configuring Modules
Now that you have installed a new module, you need to enable and configure it. To do so, click the Enable newly added module button or simply go to the Extend section once again, search for your newly installed module, mark the checkbox next to it and press the Install button.
Scroll down till you locate the Admin Toolbar and the Admin Toolbar Tools.
Mark the checkboxes beside them then press the Install icon to activate them.
After the installation is complete, you can simply configure the new module via the Configure icon.
Conclusion
