Introduction
Drupal features two main content types -articles and pages. Articles are considered time conscious pieces that include news, blog posts, press releases, etc. Pages, on the other hand, are more of the reserved content that remains static indefinitely. The content on pages can be adjusted to suit the purpose of your site, but they are usually located in the same place. For instance, an “About Us” section is an example of a page. Services pages, Contact forms, terms of service agreements, and so on are also included in this list.
In this tutorial, we will show you how to create articles and pages in Drupal.
Let’s start!
Step 1 – Creating an Article on Drupal
We shall start by creating an article on Drupal. Press the Content tab in the Drupal admin toolbar.
Then tap the Add Content button and select Article to begin editing.
This will open a text editor in Drupal.
Now, you can add your content. There is a Tags field where you can add different tags to describe your articles. Commas can separate these tags.
The key sections that you need to know are shown and described below in detail:
Revision log message: Include the details on any revisions you make to your article. This will help establish clarity in case different authors are reviewing your work.
Comment Settings: You can leave this option open or closed to allow visitors to post comments.
Menu settings: Check the textbox to instruct Drupal to create a menu link automatically to your article.
URL Path Settings: Working with Drupal allows you to create an alternative URL path commonly known as “alias.” It’s useful for creating pages. You may leave this option blank for now.
Authoring Information: In this section, you can decide to change the content’s author plus the stamp date. This is important in case you receive articles from users through email or when you need to change authorization.
Promotion Options: With Drupal, you can promote your article to the top page, but for now we shall set this option as default.
Finally, click Save and publish to publish your article. Now, you can open your website and access your newly added article.
Step 2 – Creating a Page On Drupal
To create a page and assign it to the top page of your Drupal website, login to the Drupal content area and press the Content tab.
You will be directed to the Content management page. Click on Add content button to add a new page.
Now, select the Basic page link to open an identical editor like the one seen when creating articles.
Create a new page and enter all the details you wish to present including a Title for your page. You can start with the “About Us” page then proceed to “Our Services.”
Add this page to the top page on Drupal. To do so, go to the Menu Settings tab and tick the Provide a menu icon. This will allow you to pick a Menu link title, Description, Parent Item, and Weight.
Once you’re done with filling out the details for the new page, click Save and publish to make it live.
Your page will now appear in the main menu of your Drupal website and visitors will see it.
Conclusion
There you have it! It’s simple to create articles and pages on Drupal to make your site active. Ensure you provide quality content to keep your visitors engaged.
Good luck!
