Expert Overview
Simple Hosting Options since 2002
ZenBox is a company that was established with a focus on hosting. They have been in business since 2012 and continue to work hard to remain innovative and effective for their customers. They use name brand hardware in their datacenter, including items from Cisco, IBM, VMware and LiteSpeed. This helps ensure you have a good overall experience from a hosting point of view.
They provide shared, cloud and dedicated servers as well as domain name registration and more. While their site isn’t naturally in English, and it has some issues even with translation, it is easy to see that they have a lot to offer their customers.
Uptime & Reliability
Hosting Appears Stable
The data center that is used is quite modern and they use high quality servers from the best manufacturers around. There is really no reason to think that anyone would struggle with downtime or other related issues. I couldn’t find any reviews suggesting that the quality or stability was low either, though the users wouldn’t likely be from the US anyway. As mentioned above, you will get a 14-day free trial to see whether or not they can meet your needs for uptime & reliability.
Features
Good Quality Hosting Features
When looking through the features that are offered with this company you will likely find that there really is a lot to be desired in some ways, and in others they have a good quality service. For example, they don’t limit the amount of bandwidth you can have, but they limit the number of unique users per month that can access your site on a monthly basis. This is certainly an odd way to measure and limit the hosting experience.
It is somewhat difficult to find information on their VPS/Cloud hosting solutions, with is unfortunate. Much of what is on the site doesn’t translate over into English even with the browser’s translation feature, which may be what is making it so hard. The dedicated servers are all custom made to ensure you are getting exactly what you need for your hosting experience.
Pricing
Pricing Based on Unique Visitors
Just like the limitations for usage, they also base your prices on how many users you expect to get. If you think you’ll have less than 15k unique users, you can sign up for the entry level hosting. This goes up to a package for over 100k users and one for a custom solution for sites that are very busy. This really is an unusual way to do things and I can’t think of any reason why people would want to do it. You do get a 14-day free trial on all their packages, so that will let you choose whether this is a good option for you or not.
User Friendly
Things are Too Confusing
While there are certainly some nice points to this hosting provider, there are a lot of things I don’t like. Unless there is a compelling reason in your specific case to choose this provider, it seems like it isn’t going to be a very good option.
Pros:
- Quality Hardware
- Quality Datacenter
- 14-Day Free Trial
Cons:
- Priced based on Number of Visitors
- Confusing Setup
Support
Good Support & Documentation
They say that they have good quality tech support 24/7 and there is no reason to doubt it. The company seems to have a good focus on helping users with any problems they run into. There is also a good amount of information on their site to help you get up to speed and use their hosting solutions properly.
