Xtraorbit is a hosting company based in Egypt. They say on their website that they are specifically targeting small to medium sized businesses, but they also offer their services to individuals of course. They have quite a few different hosting options to choose from, though not so many that it becomes confusing. Their data centers are located in Egypt and another one in Texas. With these two locations, they are hosting sites for thousands of customers from over 50 different countries.
They offer shared hosting, VPS and dedicated servers. They actually only have one shared hosting option and it is an unlimited service. It seems from what I can tell that they are really more focused on their VPS and dedicated hosting, but wanted to have a shared hosting option for customers who needed it.
Overall, it seems like they have a nice set of options and they are able to meet the needs of most types of customers.
Uptime & Reliability
Very reliable services
Both of their data centers appear to be top of the line and offer redundant network and power sources. They have a 99.9% uptime guarantee for the network and power, so you’re not likely to go down very much at all. Very few people have complained about their uptime on social media or other sites, so it seems like this won’t be an issue at all.
Features
Lots of great features for all types of customers
This company really provides a lot of features, and almost all of them are included in whatever package you choose. Some things, such as unlimited disk space and bandwidth are fairly common offerings for hosting companies. Other things like Zend Optimizer, Ioncube, raw access to all server logs and others are nice little extras that you don’t always see from other places.
They also have an e-commerce service that will make it easy to set up your own online store and start accepting payments right away. All their sites get complimentary anti-virus to help keep them clean and running smoothly.
Support
Good support but lacking live options
The support teams with this company are qualified, and they typically provide the support you need in a timely way, but they don’t have 24/7 live support. During business hours they do have live chat, but no dedicated technical support toll-free number.
They do have some nice documentations and other self-help items that can help you to learn more about the hosting so you can avoid problems and fix some issues yourself.
Pricing
Good pricing with plenty of options for higher end sites
The pricing is pretty good for most of their services. The shared hosting option starts at about $7 per month, which is higher than you might expect, but it is a nice unlimited plan so it may be worth it. Their VPS servers start at just $20 per month, which is really a nice deal. If you’re hosting with this company, this is really the lowest plan I would recommend. Move up to dedicated servers and you can start at under $70 per month, again, a very nice deal.
Summary
Quality hosting for most small to mid sized sites
Overall this is a good company that provides good hosting to their clients. Most people will be very happy with whatever hosting package they choose. Given the price points and the server specs, however, it really makes most sense to only use this company if you want a VPS or above. There are other companies that likely provide better shared hosting options for a better price.
Pros:
- Good prices for VPS & dedicated hosting
- Data centers in US and Egypt
- Lots of template and design options for site builder
Cons:
- Only one shared hosting plan
- No 24/7 live support
