Uptime & Reliability
Reliability is above average for this type of hosting
Since this company does a good job at managing the number of clients they put on each server, there is very little downtime that is reported. From the site’s social media pages and other locations, most people are very happy with the stability that they enjoy. This is made even better based on the fact that their data center, which is located in Dallas, TX is well maintained and has a variety of redundant systems built right in. The shared servers run on enterprise level Dell machines that are plenty strong enough to handle the load that is put on them.
Support
Good support but no live chat or phone support
The support provided by this company is generally quite good. They can help you with any type of problem you are having, even if it isn’t directly related to the data center or hardware. To get help, however, you need to contact them via email or through an online forum, which isn’t the most convenient way to deal with technical issues. They don’t have live chat or phone support available, which is disappointing. Their knowledge base and other self-help options are very nice and they will help most people to deal with common issues. Their support forum is also a great place to go to get information about issues previous customers may have run into as well, so you can learn to address them on your own.
Pricing
Somewhat higher pricing than other shared hosting services
The prices offered by VodaHost are going to initially look somewhat higher than you may expect from a shared hosting company. The reason their prices are somewhat higher is because of the additional features they offer, and the added reliability that you’ll get from their well managed shared servers. For those individuals and companies that really just need the most basic of services, however, it doesn’t make sense to pay the higher price. For anyone who needs something a bit more reliable, but isn’t ready to jump to a VPS or dedicated server, however, this is an excellent option to consider.
Summary
Great hosting for the niche they are targeting
Overall there isn’t too much that is negative to say about this hosting company. They have a targeted audience, which is the sites that need more power and reliability than most shared hosting companies can provide, but less than a VPS. It seems that while they aren’t the largest hosting company in the world, they do a good job meeting the needs of this audience. Pros:
- Higher quality shared hosting
- Nice list of features included
- Nice site builder available
Cons:
- No higher end services such as VPS or dedicated
- No Windows hosting
- No phone support
