Techsys offers a variety of hosting options, all of which are at pretty good prices. In addition to traditional web hosting solutions they also offer radio streaming services. This is a great option for anyone who is looking to start a podcast or online radio station.
The company does not really provide too much information about their history or anything like that, which is a little unusual. They have been in business since at least 2006 and have earned a good reputation for quality hosting.
Uptime & Reliability
Good Hosting with Some Concerns
The hosting with this company appears to be very good. They use quality hardware and have been in business with a good reputation for quite some time. One concern I saw was with the dedicated servers. They only offer a 99.6% uptime guarantee. While this is only slightly below what other companies offer, it is something to be aware of. Oddly, on another page they have a listing of 100% uptime guarantees. It is not exactly clear what the reality is for this company. The fact is, however, that I haven’t seen anyone complaining about downtime so you won’t likely run into any trouble.
Features
Mostly Good Features
The features with this company are all pretty competitive when comparing them to other hosting companies. You can choose where you want your hosting to be located, either Germany, the UK or the USA. You can also choose from several operating systems when you go with higher level hosting. Most of their packages come with a dedicated IP address and other nice features.
If you choose a dedicated hosting solution you can pick from either AMD or Intel processors, which is a nice option that most companies don’t provide. All their packages have plenty of disk space and bandwidth available to meet the needs of any site.
Support
Good Technical Support with Limited Options
The tech support does a good job at keeping your hosting up and running smoothly. They have online chat and email support. They also have a ticketing system for their clients. I didn’t see a phone number for the tech support team.
They do have a nice knowledge base with some good information, and their network status page can be very helpful.
Pricing
Reasonable Pricing
The pricing is fairly standard across all their options. The shared hosting starts at just $1 per month and goes up across four packages until it gets to $12.99 per month. At each level you will be getting improved hardware and other features so the money is worth it in most cases.
If you bump up to a dedicated server you will be paying between $40.90 and $143.99 per month. This is a good price for a pretty good set of servers. It would be nice if they had higher end options for the biggest or most demanding sites, but only a very few people would need that anyway so it is not a big deal.
Summary
Nice Hosting with Nice Options
This company has done a good job at providing their customers with the level of service that they need. They may not focus on the highest end options, but for the vast majority of webmasters that is not going to be an issue anyway. The overall quality is in line with the prices, which makes this a good option for most people.
Pros:
- Lots of Options
- Quality Hardware
- Reasonable Pricing
- Radio Hosting Available
Cons:
- 99.6% uptime listed in one area – 100% uptime guarantee in another
