SuperorHost originally opened their doors in 1996 as a IT services company, and added hosting to their services in 1997. They work hard to provide customers with a great overall hosting experience at affordable prices. You will have access to a variety of different hosting options to ensure you have access to exactly what you need. One thing that really stands apart from other hosting companies is that they offer every customer a toll-free number to the owner of the company so if you feel you are not getting the service you need you can talk directly to the person in charge.
In additional to normal hosting plans they also offer optional website maintenance plans. This will help you with things like sending out newsletters, optimizing your site for search engines, checking for security issues and much more. They also provide spam filters to help keep your site running smoothly.
Uptime & Reliability
Very Reliable Hosting
The hosting with this company is quite reliable. They do have a 99.9% uptime guarantee that they have no trouble meeting. They don’t seem to oversell their servers, which may be one of the reasons that their prices are higher than many other shared hosting companies. You don’t get too much information about their data centers from their site, but they do seem to be very stable, which may be because SuperiorHost leases space in another companies data center (a very common practice).
Features
Good Shared Hosting Features
When you work with this company you are getting more than just the basic hosting that most companies provide. They are really there to help you with every aspect of your hosting experience. This includes giving you a nice control panel (cPanel), email hosting with spam filtering and even website design options. This is in addition to some very competitive shared hosting plans. They don’t have VPS or dedicated servers though, so make sure you won’t need to ‘grow’ into this type of thing in the future (most sites don’t need to).
The shared hosting plans they have come with more than enough features for most sites. Entry level is 5 gigs of disk space, 50 gigs of bandwidth and 10 MySQL databases. As you move up you can get to the 100 gigs of disk space and 1000 gigs of bandwidth and unlimited MySQL databases. They also offer all the other standard features you expect from a good hosting company.
Support
Responsive Tech Support
The tech support with this company is very responsive. One of the main reasons that people use this company is because they make it easy even for people who don’t know much about hosting, which means they must provide great support. You can get in touch with them through their ticketing system, email or a toll-free number that rings directly to the owner of the company. They don’t seem to offer any type of FAQ or knowledge base to help you learn about things on your own though, which is unfortunate.
Pricing
Somewhat Overpriced
The prices are a little higher than what you would normally see with this level of shared hosting. You can start out at $8 per month, but it does require a $20 startup fee at this entry level. $8 per month is not bad for what you’re getting at this level. When you move up, however, the prices jump to $15, $25 and $60 per month depending on the package you choose. This is too much to pay for a shared hosting service, even if it is a nice one. For $60 per month you can get a very nice VPS from most other hosting providers. If you want to use their other services, however, it may be worth it to pay the extra money so you don’t have to worry about things like SEO.
Summary
Quality Hosting for a Price
The hosting with this company is very nice, and the extras that they offer will surely ensure you have a great overall experience. This is especially true if you are running an eCommerce or other type of business site that you want to make money from. Their SEO and other options will really help make it much easier to be successful. They are, however, more expensive than most other shared hosting companies.
