This was my first time of creating a WordPress website and the first time of having dealings with a hosting company.
I recently joined a WordPress Meetup group - 'WordUp Pompey' - in the hope of learning more about WP. This was where I found out about redIT (one of the sponsors for the group).
I signed up the following day once I'd finished using their friendly and super efficient live chat feature - talking to Kerry.
Then the questions began...
Scott was excellent with answering all of my queries and did quite a bit of troubleshooting at the database end to find out why I was unable to login in to my site via the temporary URL. It turned out that I still had a reference to 'localhost' in the database name - something I wouldn't have known where to change in a million years!!
Now I'm up and running with developing my site - the questions have stopped for a while, but I am confident that if I run into any issues - redIT will be able to solve it!

Having been with a previously market leading hosting company, I was getting seriously fed up with what I call "Large Company Syndrome" - Every time you contact them, you get passed around, never the same person twice, whatever the problem, it can only be fixed by buying ANOTHER bolt on. That was also my experience from other hosts on sites I have supported. So, on advice from a friend, I moved over to redIT. What a massive contrast between these companies, and Scott and his company.
I am on their lowest price package, but even so, nothing is too difficult, or too much trouble. Once I had set up, I found an issue with compatibility between their server/software (I'm not an IT genius, so not exactly sure the issue) and my preferred client. Scott spent several days on setting up a brand new PC, bought for the purpose, to replicate my issues, and then working with a combination of the software development team, as well as Microsoft support, to solve the problem. He then refunded me a couple of months payment as an apology, which was wholly unnecessary for this level of service, and another welcome change.
So far, I've had 100% up-time, very quick servers, and plenty of features, included in the price, which were premium extras with my previous hosts.
What can one say, You talk to the same two people on chat or email, they do what they say they will, and keep you informed. Hosting doesn't get any better, in my experience.
