Omnis Network has been offering quality hosting services since 1999, and have a strong reputation for solid services. They own their own data center, located in Torrance, California. They also have an office in Los Angeles where their non-tech support teams apparently work out of.
They have long been a leader with shared hosting options, but have more recently also begun offering VPS and dedicated servers as well. All of their plans are reasonably priced and come with everything you’ll need to run most types of sites. They do have some features, such as dedicated IPs, that cost extra.
Overall they provide quite a few different nice options and will be able to easily work with you to provide you whatever services you need.
Uptime & Reliability
99.9% Uptime Guarantee – But no compensation
Omnis Network promotes a 99.9% uptime guarantee, which is fairly standard for hosting today. The problem is, however, that they don’t let you know what happens if they don’t meet the agreement. In addition, they don’t publically display server uptime so it will be almost impossible to file a complaint and get any type of compensation for the downtime if you experience any problems.
Quality hosting with some premium options
All their hosting packages come with everything that most customers will need to build a quality site. While their bandwidth and disk space are limited, the caps are quite reasonable and won’t be an issue for most customers. Some things, such as dedicated IPs and private SSL certificates are available, though they come with a monthly fee.
You’ll have access to a nice website builder program, but it is limited to just three pages for the free version. If you want to expand beyond that, which most people will, you will have to upgrade to the Pro or Ecommerce site builder, which comes with an extra fee of course.
The bottom line with their features is that as long as you don’t need anything extra, they are quite nice. Once you start using their more advanced features, the price will start to go up quite a bit.
Great customer support
This is one of the nicest areas for Omnis Network. They offer phone, email and live chat support 24/7/365. Since their technical teams are on site, they can provide you with direct assistance, no matter what you need. In addition, they have some nice self-help options such as a FAQ, some video tutorials and more.
Good base prices
The base prices for all their hosting packages are quite reasonable and in line with what you would expect to pay. As mentioned in other sections, however, the price can get quite high if you need their extras. Most people will be better off with another company if they need to use any of the premium features, since they are often free else ware. For those who don’t need them, however, Omnis Network can be a great option.
Pretty good hosting options with some potential concerns
Overall the hosting is actually quite good, and as long as you don’t opt for more advanced services, you will likely be satisfied with the price. Unfortunately, you’ll have to deal with some problems such as the unenforceable uptime guarantee and the potential for all the little extras that can cause your bill to go up significantly.
Well established company
Tech staff works on site at the data center
Non-Outsourced tech teams
Uptime guarantee effectively useless
Quite a few premium features cost extra
Still fairly new at offering VPS and dedicated hosting
I've had my site with Omnis for about 5 years, now, and it gets worse every year. The up time is fine but their servers are insanely slow. My WordPress site took 15 seconds to load. On BlueHost, it now takes 1.5 seconds. The Omnis user interface is confusing, slow, disjointed, and literally looks like it's from the 80s. Our web designer logged in once and started laughing. Their tech support is typically rude and not helpful. I always feel like I'm interrupting a moody teenager from his video games.
My site has been with Omnis for about a year now, and I am renewing with them as I have had really great service from them. Before I picked them as my web hosting company, I called their customer support a few times to see how easy it was to reach someone and how knowledgeable the support staff was.
They also offer a lot of free tools that are helpful in getting started. They have a free site builder that should be suitable for more people’s first website. I ran into a few issues when I was making my site, but their tech support was able to help guide me along. There is also a free shopping cart if your site is a business site.
As I said before, my site has been with them for about a year now. Once the site was up, everything ran smoothly. There have been no interruptions in my service and it is easy to manage my site through their account manager.
Great web host for new users. Reliable and easy to use
My customers don’t want to have to worry about the quality of web hosting for their sites. I design and manage a few customer sites. They don’t need any fancy bells and whistles They just want their website to run fast and to always be up. I have their sites hosted with Omnis, and there has been very few instances of downtime; mostly for maintenance. I’ve talked with their customer support a few times when first setting up the site, and as I recall they were easy to reach and helpful. Since then there have not been any issues, no need to contact them. Its nice to be able to set up a site and then forget about it, knowing its in good hands.
