Omnis Network has been offering quality hosting services since 1999, and have a strong reputation for solid services. They own their own data center, located in Torrance, California. They also have an office in Los Angeles where their non-tech support teams apparently work out of.
They have long been a leader with shared hosting options, but have more recently also begun offering VPS and dedicated servers as well. All of their plans are reasonably priced and come with everything you’ll need to run most types of sites. They do have some features, such as dedicated IPs, that cost extra.
Overall they provide quite a few different nice options and will be able to easily work with you to provide you whatever services you need.
Uptime & Reliability
99.9% Uptime Guarantee – But no compensation
Omnis Network promotes a 99.9% uptime guarantee, which is fairly standard for hosting today. The problem is, however, that they don’t let you know what happens if they don’t meet the agreement. In addition, they don’t publically display server uptime so it will be almost impossible to file a complaint and get any type of compensation for the downtime if you experience any problems.
Features
Quality hosting with some premium options
All their hosting packages come with everything that most customers will need to build a quality site. While their bandwidth and disk space are limited, the caps are quite reasonable and won’t be an issue for most customers. Some things, such as dedicated IPs and private SSL certificates are available, though they come with a monthly fee.
You’ll have access to a nice website builder program, but it is limited to just three pages for the free version. If you want to expand beyond that, which most people will, you will have to upgrade to the Pro or Ecommerce site builder, which comes with an extra fee of course.
The bottom line with their features is that as long as you don’t need anything extra, they are quite nice. Once you start using their more advanced features, the price will start to go up quite a bit.
Support
Great customer support
This is one of the nicest areas for Omnis Network. They offer phone, email and live chat support 24/7/365. Since their technical teams are on site, they can provide you with direct assistance, no matter what you need. In addition, they have some nice self-help options such as a FAQ, some video tutorials and more.
Pricing
Good base prices
The base prices for all their hosting packages are quite reasonable and in line with what you would expect to pay. As mentioned in other sections, however, the price can get quite high if you need their extras. Most people will be better off with another company if they need to use any of the premium features, since they are often free else ware. For those who don’t need them, however, Omnis Network can be a great option.
Summary
Pretty good hosting options with some potential concerns
Overall the hosting is actually quite good, and as long as you don’t opt for more advanced services, you will likely be satisfied with the price. Unfortunately, you’ll have to deal with some problems such as the unenforceable uptime guarantee and the potential for all the little extras that can cause your bill to go up significantly.
Pros:
- Well established company
- Tech staff works on site at the data center
- Non-Outsourced tech teams
Cons:
- Uptime guarantee effectively useless
- Quite a few premium features cost extra
- Still fairly new at offering VPS and dedicated hosting
