MaroMania is a hosting company based in Morocco that has been in business since 2004. They are focused on shared hosting and dedicated servers (they say that they will be offering VPS services in 2016). They can also provide a configuration of one of those to allow you to be a reseller if that is what you’re looking for. The overall service they offer is not bad at all and most of their customers seem to be satisfied with the hosting. Their site is setup in a nice way that is pretty easy to navigate. It is written in the native language of Morocco and doesn’t have an option to translate so if you’re looking for English you’ll have to use some sort of translation plugin on your browser.
The company is stable, which is always a good sign. They offer domain name registration as well as hosting, which is something many people will like. Overall, this should generally be seen as a ‘middle of the road’ hosting company. There is nothing wrong with that and if you’re looking specifically for hosting in Morocco or the surrounding region, this may be a nice option to consider.
Uptime & Reliability
Hosting Seems to be Stable
From what I can find there does not seem to be any significant reliability issues with this company. They don’t offer an uptime guarantee that I saw but nobody was complaining about outages or slowness either. They do use good quality hardware and their data center appears to be up to high standards. The bottom line here is that reliability will likely not be an issue with this hosting company. One thing to keep in mind is that free hosting is almost always an oversold shared server, which means you may experience slowness during times when other sites on the box are busy. This is to be expected whenever getting free hosting.
Features
Overall Nice Features
There are all the standard features you would expect from a hosting provider included in all your packages. With shared hosting you’ll get a choice of 5 different packages. They start out with 2 gigs of disk space and go up to unlimited. Bandwidth starts at 50 gigs and goes up to unlimited. In both cases this is going to be more than enough for almost any type of site. They do limit you on sub-domains for all but the largest package, but the limits are quite high so that won’t be a concern for most people. MaroMania also has a free hosting option. This will get you 1 gig of disk space, 4 gigs of traffic per month, 5 email addresses, 1 SQL database and more. This is all done with no ads, which is very nice. When it comes to free hosting, this is one of the better options.
Dedicated servers are all configured specifically for each customer. They don’t have any ‘baseline models’ to choose from so you’ll have to request a quite from the company to get exactly what you want. This is not a bad way to do it really but it can make it harder than it needs to be to estimate your pricing or get an idea of what exactly you want. For experienced webmasters, this is fine. For those who are looking for a dedicated server for the first time, this may cause issues.
Support
Limited Tech Support Contact Options
To get technical support you need to submit a ticket to their team and they will look into your issue. They don’t make it clear what hours they are staffed but it is likely 24/7. I did not see any option to email them directly or to give them a call for tech support. One nice thing is they have a page that gives a live server status, which can help with troubleshooting. They also have a pretty good knowledge base to review.
Pricing
Excellent Prices
The pricing is all done in the Moroccan Dirham. When you convert it to dollars you will see that you’re going to be getting a very good deal for their shared hosting services. The entry level option is $38.11 per year and it goes up from there. For what you’re getting this is below what most other hosting companies provide. Also keep in mind that they do have a nice free hosting option that will be perfect for people just looking to start a personal blog or something like that.
Summary
Good Hosting Option in Morocco
This looks to be a nice hosting company to consider if you need this type of service anywhere in the region. They have been around for over ten years and have a pretty good reputation. Like any hosting company that is 10+ years old, there are a few complaints here and there but from what I’ve seen most people are quite happy.
Pros:
- Very Good Prices
- Free Hosting Option
- Nice Shared Hosting Features
Cons:
- You Must Get a Quote for a Dedicated server
- VPS Not Available Until 2016
