Lizardhill was originally an IT company that has been around for over two decades. Because of their experience in the IT and network fields, they provide superior web hosting with knowledge that other hosts just don’t have. Using the best technology to create a reliable server, they pride themselves on offering plans that you can host your entire business on with virtually no problems. While their website design and prices may also be two decades old, you know you’re getting quality.
Uptime & Reliability
Very reliable hosting.
They are known for their reliability, and that’s what really makes them a great sell. They’ve been around long enough for you to trust them, and they back it up on paper. They have a service guarantee page where they explicitly guarantee a 99.999% uptime of their servers and networks. Unlike most companies which offer you a tiny little refund — if your website goes down for an hour, they will give you a credit for 1/720 of your monthly pay..Lizard Hill will give you a full day’s credit (1/30th rather than 1/720) for each hour it’s down. But they are known for their servers not going down. You have a right to opt out of any plans you have with them if there’s an outage of 8+ hours. They have daily backups of all of their servers offering you true reliability knowing your data is safe in case of a disaster. With the 24/7 Emergency Contact line, you will be guaranteed professional help quickly and efficiently.
Features
Good hosting features available
Lizard Hill Hosting basically does just that: web hosting. They have an in-house domain registrar as well, but I’ll get to that shortly. For the most part, they have five main hosting plans with different features as well as the possibility to add more (such as extra space, or a dedicated SSL server). If you’re in the market for an unlimited hosting plan, they also have one!
All of their plans include unlimited e-mail accounts, bandwidth, SQL databases, and Spam Assassin. That in itself is a huge bonus, as many other hosts are charging astronomical prices for bandwidth: with Lizard Hill, it’s just another included feature. Disk space ranges from 5GB to 20GB, as well as the unlimited plan, and a budget plan.
Support
Good quality support 24/7
LizardHill offers a 24/7/365 tech support system that you can use at your disposal. They have a domestic and international support line that’s open during business hours, as well as the ability to send an text message to a server administrator in case of any emergency, regardless if it’s at 5PM or 5AM. In addition, they offer a full featured FAQ that someone has obviously dedicated time and effort on completing — it’s always a good sign when a company takes time to answer your questions.
Pricing
Good prices on hosting. Avoid them for domain registration.
Lizardhill’s hosting prices are pretty competitive with the market, and they have some awesome budget plans. Their personal plan will run you less than a dollar per month (with a 2 year contract — $23.75 total) and also includes unlimited bandwidth..for ONE DOLLAR.
Their cheapest standard plan where you get more than 500mb of disk space start at $6.45/month without a contract and go up to $19.45 a month. Their month-by-month prices are not very good, but in pretty much every plan, that price is cut down by half when you purchase a contract.
If you want unlimited everything, it will run you $49.95/month or an extra $20 monthly to get it with a dedicated IP. I think that’s way too high in my opinion, though its 25% off if you get a yearly plan.
Their domain prices are still stuck in the 1990’s…$60 for one year of a .cc domain? Or $28 for two years of a .info? No thanks.
Summary
Good hosting that will meet the needs of most sites
If you want a company that’s been around a while, “been there, done that”, LizardHill is a good choice. Some of their plans are very well priced and affordable and contain all the features you expect such as a full featured cPanel, among others. Their unlimited plans are a bit high in my opinion on cost, but with the quality of service and support, it’s just about worth it. They don’t have million of clients to deal with, so you get very personalized, down-to-earth support from an employee who actually works at the company, not some call center in China.
Pros:
- Very reliable hosting
- Company has been in business for 20+ years
- Very inexpensive personal plan
Cons:
- No VPS or dedicated servers available
- Unlimited plans are expensive
- Domain registration is expensive
