Global web hosting company with easy to understand options
Fozzy is a US based hosting company, but they have data centers around the world. They offer both shared hosting options and VPS solutions. It seems that they only have two versions of each of these hosting options, which actually makes it quite easy to see what you're getting into.
While this does limit the different configuration options to choose from, it is actually a lot easier to understand, especially for people who are newer to web hosting.
They have good support, fast connections to the web and do a great job at keeping their servers and other technical equipment up to date.Read More
Uptime & Reliability
No stated up time guarantee but no complaints either
Fozzy doesn't give any specific up time percentage that they guarantee to meet. Despite this fact, however, I couldn't find any complaints from customers saying that they were frequently down or slow. It seems that Fozzy is looking to just let their reputation do the talking here.
In most cases, companies with multiple data centers do a good job including at least some types of redundancy, and that seems to be the case here. There is certainly no reason to be concerned about the reliability of this hosting company.
Standard options available with limited add on features
You'll basically get all the standard features that you would expect from a hosting company, but there aren't too many more to add on. With this in mind, it seems that they are targeting primarily people newer to making websites, though they don't come right out and say taht.
The niche that they do directly target, interestingly, is those who are looking to trade foreign exchanges (forex). They even have a VPS package dedicated just to these forex traders, who need very rapid transaction times. It is very unusual for a web hosting company to target such a specific niche, but apparently they are doing well with it.
They have both Linux and Windows VPS configurations available.
Lack of live support options is concerning
Their technical support is actually well qualified, and once they get started on a problem, it seems they are able to fix it fast. The issue, however, is that there is no live support option to choose. You can't call them up or even use a live chat feature.
Using their ticketing system, however, they typically respond quickly and get the problem fixed. They also offer a number of self-help options so you can avoid common problems. Overall, they would have great technical support if they just allowed you to contact them directly.
Fair prices for each of their hosting options
Fozzy pricing is about average for the hosting industry. What is a bit unusual (in a good way) is their openness regarding what it is you're paying for. They make it a point to provide very detailed information about the specs of what you're getting.
For example, many shared hosting providers just give you generic information about how much disk space you can get and things like that. Fozzy actually runs through the specs of the server that you are on, even for shared hosting.
Well known for very fast hosting
One of the main marketing points that Fozzy hosting uses is that they offer very fast hosting. In their 'forex' hosting package they comment on how when trading currencies, even milliseconds count, and they do all they can to be as fast as possible.
They have multiple data centers throughout the world, and from the research that was done, they all appear to offer very fast response times. The fact that they have these data centers also contributes to the speed, since you can select a host that is located as close as possible to your target customers.
Excellent host for small sites or niche customers
Fozzy provides great service to their customers. While it is a little odd that they seem to be niche focused, they do provide great hosting for anyone, no matter what type of site they offer. The one exception is those who need dedicated servers, which they don't provide.
- Extremely fast response times
- Fair pricing
- Multiple data centers around the world
- Clear specs for each hosting package
- No phone support
- Very few 'extra' features available, even at a premium
- Their niche focusing can make it confusing
