Bizland offers affordable and efficient web hosting packages for small business owners and individuals looking to start out on the net. They have 4 types of hosting solution available which starts at your basic level plan, called the Charter, and rises up to the top plan, called the Commerce package.
Along with web hosting solutions they also provide a web builder tool to enable even the novice user a chance at creating a professional looking site, along with a an area to register domains names.
Bizland have a total of two data centres which they state are both located in the Boston area. The data centres offer a full round-the-clock monitoring and security service over 24 hours, 7 days a week. They have a page on the site dedicated to how the infrastructure and architecture works but fail to provide any stats on uptime guarantee’s, but general online reviews give a thumbs up to Bizlands uptime.
Each hosting plan provides a different level of features and tools, but even the standard plan will give you eCommerce functionality, FTP access, plenty of disk space and bandwidth, and a collection of marketing tools. If you are prompted in getting the top end package then you will be given more room to breathe and will benefit from 300GB of space, 3000GB of data transfer and sub-domains to customise.
With each plan you will also be able to take advantage of $100 of Google Adwords vouchers, and $50 of Bing vouchers which is a good incentive to start getting traffic and awareness to your site.
Live chat, sales and support telephone numbers are clearly presented in the top right of the site, as well as a handy support area which houses a knowledge base and selection of very helpful user guides. When you sign up as a customer you will also have access to a support ticket system, support console and direct email address.
There are no social media help channels available, and you may not be able to call from outside the US due to the phone number being a toll free US number.
Bizland are actually very good value for money, and considering that the Starter plan (Charter) provides a wealth of great tools, support, features and promotional freebies, it will only cost you $5.95 per month or $59.95 for the full year.
The most expensive package will cost $34.95 per month or $349.95 for the year which may be a little overpriced in some peoples book.
There is one catch, setup fees are charged for each plan which is something that most hosting providers tend to offer for free these days. The good news is that the cost of setup is 49.95 across the board.
In general the Bizland website is fairly well thought out and offers a good user experience. This was the first time I used the website and I managed to easily navigate around, finding the plans on offer, as well as the full range of features and breakdown of prices.
The biggest down side is that there is no CPanel at Bizland, they instead provide a custom control panel option which you will need to walk yourself through to get accustomed to. Other than that, they offer a very friendly step by step guide on how to create your site right through to how to market your site which can be a handy page for beginners.
I have to say that overall I am pleased with the service Bizland offers, and bar a few minor sticking points they offer an incredible service for small sized business owners. The prices for most of the packages are not only competitive but affordable, and the features and tools you get for each plan (even the most basic plan) have everything you need and more to get your site off the ground.
The support service is also above average, only missing a few channels that aren’t crucial contact methods.
