Growing US based hosting company
AlwaysWebHosting is a US-based provider with data centers around the country offering basic shared web hosting services. In addition, they have a custom website templates that they give their customers access to, allowing them to create a fully functional and designed site in minutes. They currently don't offer any VPS but they will be offering them in the near future.
Uptime & Reliability
While they have an entire page dedicated to offering a 30-day money back guarantee, that's not actually the case. Their terms of service explicitly says no refunds whatsoever, and many reviews online have re-assured that: do not go in expecting a refund because they will not give you one (even though they advertise it!). There is also no uptime guarantee mentioning anywhere, and the fact that their only address is a PO Box would make me think twice about ordering from them. They also have a 99.9% uptime guarantee listed in the same page, but it's nowhere to be found on the actual contract, another bad sign. The one thing I did like was their external backups, though I would not say it makes up for the other issues.
Quite a few limitations on what you can do
It's probably worth mentioning that they don't allow any CGI script, such as bulletin boards or IRC chatroom servers, due to high server stress resulting from those. In addition, not only do they not offer add-on domains, but they explicitly ban you from using them. They also don't offer any upgrades in the already-low bandwidth or disk space area, but rather make you purchase another plan to get double the amount, or contact them for a custom dedicated server. The plans include either 10, 15, or 25GB of disk space and 100-250GB of bandwidth. They aren't outrageously expensive but in no way are they cheap. In addition, they still list Fantastico as a feature which tells me they are behind in the web sphere. The servers are on great machines, running 16 cores with 16GB of RAM (which also isn't the best compared to today's standards. CentOS is installed on it and there is no option to change it to another OS, while add-on domains are capped at 10 for all plans.
Their reseller plans are similarly bad. Disk space only features a maximum of 200GB, and that's for the most expensive plan. The low-end has 50GB of disk space and 500GB of bandwidth. At least you do get unlimited cPanel accounts with them all. Once again, they surely aren't the worst or most expensive host around, but you can find a better deal without much searching.
Questionable tech support
They do have a contact phone number, but they list their address as a PO Box in Indiana, meaning they don't have any physical offices. They have a license for a standard, run-of-the-mill ticket support system with no FAQ, forum, live chat, or any other support median. Even their Testimonials section looks very fabricated. I couldn't find any credible positive reviews of AlwaysWebHosting, so I would recommend to do some extra research if you plan on giving them your hard earned money!
Somewhat over priced
The standard hosting plans cost just $9.95 per month, which isn't terrible but expensive for a plan only containing 10gb of disk space. Meanwhile, even the $25/mo hosting plan only has 25GB disk space, not much if you plan on utilizing a few of those add-on domains. At the same time, most small businesses don't use an extreme amount of disk space, so it could work for you. The reseller plans start at $25 (with more bandwidth and disk space than the $25 shared plan, which leads me to wonder why not just get the reseller instead!) and runs all the way up to $100 bucks per month, for a plan that's not worth it at all.
Not the best hosting solution
It's fair to say I am not a fan of AlwaysWebHosting. I'm very big into trusting your web host, and a company that offers no refunds and is very shady regarding many of their claims is not one I want to try. In addition, their plans are outdated (they still mention Fantastico), their only address is a PO Box, and their hosting plans feature many restrictions.
- 10 Add-on domains for all packages
- off-site backups
- No refunds
- Many restrictions such as CGI scripts
- Limited bandwidth and disk space
- PO Box for their official address
