Hostinger Refund Policy Explained (2026): How to Actually Get One

Hostinger Refund Policy Explained: How to Actually Request One

Hostinger Refund Policy

Hostinger’s refund policy page reads clearly enough on its own. The bigger issue is that the actual refund button is not where you would expect it to be inside hPanel, and the policy page does not tell you what happens to your files the moment you click it.

The Short Answer

Most Hostinger products purchased directly come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Request a refund inside that window and you get your money back, minus a few excluded products and payment methods.

  • Standard refund window. 30 days from the date of the transaction, which includes renewal charges, not just your original purchase
  • Where domains differ. New domain registrations only qualify for a refund within 96 hours, and only if the domain has not been activated
  • What voids it. Paying with cryptocurrency, or having your account suspended for a Terms of Service violation
  • What it does to your account. Submitting a refund request cancels the service and permanently deletes the associated data immediately, not after the refund is approved

That last point is the one most people miss, so I have covered it in detail below.

Where the Refund Button Actually Lives

The refund and cancellation option is not linked anywhere inside hPanel’s normal navigation. It does not appear under Billing, under Subscriptions, or in the hPanel search bar.

Going to your profile icon, then Billing, then Payment History, then the Refund History tab only shows you a record of past refunds. It is not where you start a new one.

The actual page where refunds are initiated is a separate URL, hpanel.hostinger.com/paid-invoices,which lists every invoice paid in the last 30 days and marks each one as refundable or non-refundable.

I asked Kodee, Hostinger’s AI assistant, whether this is intentional or something the company is planning to change. Kodee confirmed the refund page is deliberately kept separate from the main navigation in the current hPanel design, with no confirmation that a shortcut is being added.

For now, bookmark the direct link if you think you might need it, since hunting for it inside the menus will not get you there.

How to Request a Refund, Step by Step

Once you have the invoices page open, the process itself is short.

  1. Back up everything first. Download any files, databases, and emails you need before you do anything else. Submitting the request cancels the service and starts data deletion right away, and there is no window to change your mind afterward.
  2. Open your paid invoices. Go to hpanel.hostinger.com/paid-invoices, or get there through your profile menu, Billing, Payment History.
  3. Find the eligible invoice. Refundable invoices show a Refund button. Non-refundable ones are marked accordingly and cannot be actioned from this page.
  4. Click Refund and confirm the service. You will be asked to confirm which specific service you are refunding.
  5. Acknowledge the data loss warning. A checkbox confirms you understand the associated data will be permanently lost, then you click Next.
  6. Choose where the refund goes. You can send it to your Hostinger Balance or back to your original payment method, such as a card or PayPal.
  7. Wait for the confirmation email. Hostinger sends an email shortly after you submit the request confirming it has been received.

What Happens to Your Data

I asked Kodee directly whether the cancellation and data deletion happen immediately on submission, or only once the refund is actually approved. The answer was direct. Cancellation and data deletion begin the moment you submit the request, not after Hostinger processes the refund. There is no safe window to reconsider once you click through, so the backup step above is not optional.

How Long the Refund Actually Takes

The policy page tells you refunds exist. It does not tell you how long the money takes to show up, so I asked.

Refund destinationProcessing time
Hostinger BalanceInstant once processed, but not withdrawable or transferable
PayPalUp to 48 hours for Hostinger to issue it, then 2 to 3 business days
Credit or debit cardUp to 48 hours for Hostinger to issue it, then 5 to 15 business days
PIXUp to 48 hours for Hostinger to issue it, then 2 to 3 business days
Other payment methodsUp to 48 hours for Hostinger to issue it, then 5 to 15 business days

Business days exclude weekends and bank holidays, so a card refund requested on a Friday will effectively take longer than the number above suggests.

You can track the status of a submitted refund under Billing, Payment History, Refund History, the same tab that shows nothing until you actually have one in progress.

How the 30-Day Window Is Calculated

This is worth getting exactly right, since the wording on the policy page is easy to misread. I asked Kodee to confirm whether day 30 itself is still inside the window or already past it. The 30-day period includes day 30 itself, it is not cut off at the end of day 29. The count starts from the payment date, including renewal charges, not just your original signup date.

To avoid cutting it close, submit your request earlier in the day if you are near the deadline rather than assuming you have until midnight. Other factors, like your payment method or whether you have claimed a refund recently on a similar service, can still affect eligibility even inside the window.

What Is Covered and What Is Not

Hostinger’s refund policy is more detailed than most people expect, with different rules depending on the product.

Covered under the standard 30-day guarantee:

  • Web, Cloud, and Agency hosting plans
  • SSL certificates and daily backups
  • Cloudflare, Hostinger Email, and Titan Email
  • Priority Support
  • KVM and Minecraft Game Panel VPS plans (first purchase, not upgrades)
  • WordPress addons and Dark Web Monitor

Not eligible for a refund under any circumstance:

  • Domain name renewals and successful domain transfers
  • Privacy protection, the SEO Toolkit, and the SEO Marketing Panel
  • Google Workspace Email
  • VPS license fees and upgrades on existing VPS plans
  • All paid support services
  • Top ups for Horizons, Agents, and nexos.ai or Oxylabs AI Studio credits

Products with their own special rules:

  • VPS hosting. Refundable within 30 days of that specific transaction, but only if more than 180 days have passed since your last VPS refund
  • Hostinger Reach. Refundable within 30 days, but not if you previously used the free Reach plan, except on the first renewal after that free period
  • Hostinger Horizons. Refundable within 30 days, and only if you have used fewer than 30 AI prompts on the account

Domain Refunds Work Differently

Domains are the biggest exception to the standard 30-day rule, and the window is far shorter.

  • New domain registrations. Refundable only within 96 hours of registration, and only if you have not initiated another domain refund in the past 24 hours
  • Brazilian domains (.br, .com.br, .net.br). Get a longer window, refundable within 168 hours instead of 96
  • Non-activated domains. Still fall under the standard 30-day window, but only if the domain was never activated
  • Failed domain transfers. Refundable within 30 days if the transfer itself was unsuccessful
  • Free domains bundled with hosting. Not refundable on their own, and if you cancel the hosting plan they came with, Hostinger deducts the domain’s value from your hosting refund instead

A long list of country-code domains, including .uk, .de, .ca, .eu, and dozens of others, do not permit refunds at all once registered, regardless of timing. If you are buying a ccTLD, check whether it is on that exclusion list before you commit, since the standard rules will not apply.

Practical Tips Before You Request a Refund

  • Back up first, every time. This is not optional. Data deletion starts the moment you submit the request.
  • Choose your billing term carefully at signup. Shorter terms limit how much you would need to refund if you cancel, even though the guarantee percentage is the same.
  • Avoid paying with cryptocurrency if you might want a refund. Crypto payments are excluded from Hostinger’s refund policy entirely, no exceptions.
  • Submit early on the deadline day, not late. Since day 30 counts but the exact cutoff time is not published, request earlier in the day rather than waiting until the last hour.
  • Check the specific product’s rules before assuming coverage. Domains, Google Workspace, the SEO Toolkit, and several other add-ons are excluded even when bundled with a refundable hosting plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I request a refund from Hostinger?

Go to hpanel.hostinger.com/paid-invoices, find the eligible invoice, and click the Refund button next to it. You will need to confirm the service, acknowledge that associated data will be deleted, and choose whether the refund goes to your Hostinger Balance or your original payment method.

Does Hostinger delete my data immediately after I request a refund?

Yes. Cancellation and data deletion begin as soon as you submit the request, not after the refund is approved or processed. Back up any files, databases, or emails before starting the process.

How long does a Hostinger refund take to arrive?

Refunds to your Hostinger Balance are instant once processed. Refunds to your original payment method can take up to 48 hours for Hostinger to issue, then an additional 2 to 15 business days depending on the method, with cards usually taking the longest.

Can I get a refund on a domain name?

Only within 96 hours of registration for most domains, and only if the domain has not been activated. Some country-code domains, including .uk, .de, and .ca, do not allow refunds at all once registered.

Is the 30-day refund window based on calendar days or business days?

Calendar days, counted from the date of the transaction, and day 30 itself is still inside the window. Business days only come into play for how long the refunded money takes to arrive, not for the eligibility deadline.
