How Does the Hosting.com Affiliate Program Work?

Getting started with the Hosting.com Affiliate Program is easy, and it offers a clear path to earning commissions. You just need to follow these simple steps:

  • Signup: First, sign up for the program by completing the affiliate application. Once you submit the form, you’ll need to wait for approval.
  • Promote: After approval, you’ll receive a unique affiliate link. Share this link with your audience, whether through your website, social media, or any other platform where you engage potential customers.
  • Get Paid: Hosting.com automatically processes payments every 15th of the month, as long as you meet the minimum payout requirements.

Flowchart showing how clicks on Hosting.com affiliate links convert to commissions

Once you’ve signed up and started sharing your affiliate link, Hosting.com uses tracking mechanisms to ensure that your referrals are properly credited and that you’re paid for any sales you generate.

  • Tracking Information: Hosting.com tracks your referrals using a unique tracking URL. This is assigned to you when you join the program, and it ensures that any sale made through your link is properly attributed to you. It’s important that you don’t alter this URL; if you do, you risk losing credit for the sale.
  • Cookie Duration: Hosting.com uses a cookie-based tracking system to ensure that you get credit for any sales made by people who clicked your affiliate link. The cookie duration for Hosting.com is typically 45 days. This means if someone clicks your link and makes a purchase within 45 days, you’ll get credit for that sale, even if they don’t purchase immediately.
  • Web: When promoting Hosting.com’s services, web-based tracking is the most common method. This means that when someone clicks your affiliate link on your website, the tracking cookie is placed in their browser, allowing Hosting.com to track their actions and reward you for any resulting purchases.
  • Mobile Web: If you’re promoting through mobile-friendly websites, the process is the same as web-based tracking. The affiliate link will track users who click through your mobile site and ensure that you’re credited for any purchases made through mobile devices.
  • Multiple Conversions: One of the best parts of Hosting.com’s affiliate program is that they allow for multiple conversions per referral. If someone clicks on your affiliate link and makes multiple purchases, you’ll earn commissions on each of those purchases, as long as they are tracked under your affiliate ID. This is an excellent way to increase your earning potential, especially if you’re promoting recurring services like web hosting packages.

With the cookie duration set to 45 days, you also have a nice window to earn commissions from your referrals, making it a great option for consistent income.

How Much Can You Make From the Hosting.com Affiliate Program?

Let’s break down how much you can realistically make with the Hosting.com Affiliate Program. I’ve done the math based on the program’s commission structure, and I’ll take you through the calculation step by step.

This way, you’ll have a clear idea of how much you can earn depending on your traffic and efforts.

Understanding the Commission Structure

To make things simple, let’s first look at the commission rates. Here’s a breakdown of how much you can earn per sale depending on how many sales you generate each month:

  • 1-10 Sales: Earn $55 per sale
  • 11-15 Sales: Earn $75 per sale
  • 16-20 Sales (Agency Hosting): Earn $100 per sale
  • 21+ Sales: Earn $125 per sale

If you’re able to refer 1 customer a day, that’s $3750/month, which is a great potential income if you’re able to scale up. The more sales you make, the higher your commission per sale.

Estimating Earnings Based on Different Scenarios

ScenarioMonthly ClicksConversion RateSales/MonthEarnings/Month
Low Traffic (Beginner)1002 %2$110
Moderate Traffic5003 %15$1,050
High Traffic (Advanced)1,0005 %50$5,000
Top Affiliate2,0006 %120$15,000

What Influences Your Earnings?

There are several factors that can influence how much you earn from the Hosting.com Affiliate Program. Here’s a breakdown of the key ones:

1. Conversion Rate

This is the percentage of people who click your affiliate link and actually make a purchase. A higher conversion rate means more sales from the same amount of traffic. Typically, a 3-5% conversion rate is average for affiliate programs, but it could be higher if your content is persuasive and targeted well.

For example, if you have 500 clicks and a 3% conversion rate, you’d make 15 sales (as shown in the table above). The better your content and targeting, the more likely people are to make a purchase.

2. Traffic Volume

The more people you direct to Hosting.com through your affiliate link, the higher your chances of making sales. Increasing your monthly clicks can significantly boost your earnings. If you’re getting high-quality traffic that’s interested in hosting services, you’ll see better results. This is why platforms like blogs, YouTube reviews, and social media are great ways to drive traffic.

3. Sales Tiers

As you can see from the commission breakdown, your commission increases with more sales. If you’re able to reach the 16-20 sales tier, you’ll earn $100 per sale, and if you hit 21+ sales, your commission increases to $125 per sale. This means that your earnings can grow significantly as you gain more experience and traffic.

4. Promotional Methods

The more creative you are with your promotion methods, the better your chances of earning more. Hosting.com allows affiliates to use methods like PPC, social media, email marketing, and blog reviews to promote their links. The more effectively you use these methods, the more likely you are to boost your conversion rate.

5. Second-Tier Commissions

Hosting.com also offers second-tier commissions. This means that if someone signs up for the affiliate program through your link, you’ll earn $5 every time they make a sale. This can add a nice extra layer of income if your referrals also become successful affiliates.

Tip

To maximize your earnings, focus on creating helpful, engaging content and leveraging SEO to attract consistent organic traffic.

Managed WordPress hosting is another key product that Hosting.com offers. This is perfect for website owners who want to run a WordPress site without dealing with the technical aspects of hosting. How to Join the Hosting.com Affiliate Program?

Getting started with the Hosting.com Affiliate Program is straightforward and simple. If you’re like me, you probably want to know how easy it is to sign up and how smooth the whole process is.

So, I decided to try it myself, and here’s how I found the application process, step by step. I’ll walk you through exactly what I did and what you can expect when signing up.

Step 1: Sign Up

The first thing you need to do is head to the Hosting.com Affiliate Program homepage. Once you’re there, you’ll see a big button that says Create Affiliate Account. It’s hard to miss, so I clicked on it to get started.

Step 1: Sign Up

Screenshot of Hosting.com affiliate sign-up button

The next page took me to the application form, which is divided into three sections: Personal Information, Additional Information, and Affiliate Profile. These sections are pretty self-explanatory, but let’s break it down.

Personal Information

The first section asks for your name and email address. I just filled in these basic details quickly—it’s all pretty standard. After that, I scrolled down to the next section.

Form requesting website URL and contact details during Hosting.com affiliate application

Step 2: Complete the Additional Information

This section is where you’ll fill in more details about yourself. Here’s what I filled out:

  • Web URL: Hosting.com asks for your website URL, and this is mandatory. I understand why—they want to know where you’ll be promoting their services. If you’re an affiliate marketer, this is where you’ll direct traffic from your blog, social media, or whatever platform you’re using.
  • Address Information: You’ll need to enter your street address, city, state, country, zipcode, and phone number. It’s all the usual contact information, so just make sure it’s accurate.
  • CAPTCHA: As with most sign-up forms, you’ll need to complete a CAPTCHA (the code from a picture) to confirm you’re human. This is a simple step that took me only a second.

Selecting site type and promotional methods in Hosting.com affiliate profile

Once I filled this out, I moved to the next section.

Step 3: Fill Out the Affiliate Profile

Now, this part was interesting because it really helps Hosting.com understand how you plan to promote their services. They ask two things here:

  1. Site Type: Here, you select what kind of website you have. For me, I selected Review Site/Blog because that’s the type of platform I use. You’ll find options like Coupon Site, Affiliate Network, and others. Just choose the one that best fits your business model.
  2. Promo Methods: This is where you choose how you plan to promote Hosting.com. I selected Writing Blog Reviews since that’s my main method of promoting affiliate products. Other options include Social Media, Email Marketing, and even PPC (Pay-Per-Click) advertising.

Entering PayPal details for Hosting.com affiliate payouts

Step 4: Choose Your Payout Method

Next, I moved to the Payout Methods section. Hosting.com primarily uses PayPal for payouts, so I entered my PayPal email address here.

If you plan to earn more than $1000, there’s also an option to switch to wire transfers.

I noticed that if you want to choose wire transfers, you just need to contact their affiliate manager after signing up to make that change.

Confirmation screen after submitting Hosting.com affiliate application

Step 5: Agree to the Terms & Sign Up

The final step is to check the box to agree to the terms & conditions (make sure to read through them). Once I did that, I clicked the Sign Up button.

What Happened After I Signed Up

After clicking Sign Up, I saw a message saying, “Welcome! You have successfully signed up for the affiliate program.” It was pretty reassuring to see that confirmation right away. I was also told to check my inbox for an email with further instructions.

Sure enough, within minutes, I received an email confirming that my application was being reviewed. The email mentioned that once I was approved, I could log in, access my affiliate dashboard, and start promoting Hosting.com’s services.

Rules and Requirements to Join

Before you apply, it’s important to know that Hosting.com has certain rules and requirements to ensure that affiliates are aligned with their goals and values.

These guidelines help create a positive, professional partnership and ensure successful promotional efforts. Here’s what you need to keep in mind:

1. Website Type and Promotional Methods

Hosting.com needs to know how you plan to promote their services. This is why they ask about the type of site you have and the methods you’ll use to promote their affiliate link.

They’re looking for affiliates with established platforms that have consistent traffic.

  • Acceptable Website Types: If you have a blog, review site, tech-focused website, or even a social media presence that promotes related content (like web hosting, technology, or online services), you’re likely a good fit.
  • Prohibited Websites: Sites promoting illegal activities, offensive content, or any form of discriminatory or harmful material won’t be accepted. Hosting.com is committed to maintaining a positive and respectful image, so affiliates with any inappropriate or unethical sites will be disqualified.

2. Target Audience

You should have a clear understanding of your target audience. Hosting.com is looking for affiliates who can drive high-quality, relevant traffic to their website.

Whether your audience is small business owners, website developers, or people looking to start blogs, Hosting.com wants affiliates who can effectively engage their audience and convert traffic into sales.

3. Traffic Generation Methods

Hosting.com allows affiliates to use various promotion strategies, but they want to know how you plan to drive visitors to their website. Here’s what they expect:

  • Approved Methods: Using PPC ads, blog reviews, email marketing, social media, and SEO-driven content to drive traffic are all acceptable methods.
  • Prohibited Methods: They don’t allow affiliates to use spam, auto-traffic generators, traffic exchanges, or unethical practices like cookie stuffing.

4. Transparency and Content Integrity

Hosting.com expects their affiliates to be transparent in their promotions. If you’re recommending their services, you must disclose your affiliate relationship with them, especially if you’re using testimonials or endorsements in your content.

  • FTC Guidelines Compliance: Affiliates should comply with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines on endorsements and testimonials. This means clearly stating if your content contains affiliate links and explaining your relationship with Hosting.com.

How to Get Approved?

Once you submit your application, Hosting.com will review it. The approval process is pretty quick—mine was confirmed via email almost immediately after submitting the form. After approval, you’ll have full access to your affiliate dashboard where you can track your performance, see your commissions, and grab banners or links to start promoting.

The approval process will assess:

  • The quality of your site or platform (i.e., the traffic potential and the relevance of the content).
  • Your promotional strategies and whether they align with Hosting.com’s values.
  • Your ability to drive conversions, which is crucial for success in this program.

Make sure your platform and promotional methods align with Hosting.com’s standards to increase your chances of being accepted.

How Long Does It Take to Get Approved?

From my experience, the approval process took just a few minutes. Once I signed up, I received a confirmation email letting me know that my account was under review. Typically, the approval process can take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days, but it’s a smooth process, and Hosting.com does a good job of keeping you informed.

In conclusion, signing up for the Hosting.com Affiliate Program was a smooth and hassle-free process. From filling out the form to getting approval, everything worked as expected.

How Payment Works: Payout Rules Explained

When you’re an affiliate with Hosting.com, it’s important to understand how payments are made and the rules around earning commissions.

Here’s a simple breakdown of how the payout system works, including payment duration, requirements for payment, payment modes, and minimum withdrawal amounts.

Payments are processed on the 15th of each month. If you meet the commission threshold, your payment will be sent out on that day. If you don’t meet the minimum threshold, your commissions will carry over to the next month.

Example:

  • If your commission balance reaches $100 by the end of October, you will be paid on November 15th.
  • If your balance doesn’t reach $100, it will carry over into November, and you will be paid once your balance exceeds $100.

To receive your payment, your commission balance must be at least $100. If you haven’t earned enough commissions by the end of the month, your balance will be carried over to the next month.

For Example:

  • If you earned $50 in October, that amount will carry over, and you’ll need to earn an additional $50 in November to meet the $100 minimum.

Payments are processed through PayPal. This is the preferred method, and your commissions will be sent directly to your PayPal account that you linked during the sign-up process.

Note

Note: If your commissions are over $1000, Hosting.com also offers wire transfers as an alternative payment method, but you must request it and provide the necessary banking information.

The minimum withdrawal amount is $100. You must reach this threshold before your earnings are paid out. Commissions that don’t reach this amount will carry over to the next month, and they will continue to accumulate until you reach the $100 minimum.

For Example: October earnings: You earned $60. Your balance will carry over to November, and after earning $40 more, you will reach the $100 minimum by November 30th and get paid on December 15th.

Payment DurationPayments are processed on the 15th of each month.
Requirement for PaymentMust have $100 in approved commissions (PayPal) or $1,000 (Wire Transfer). Sales must be fully approved.
Mode of PaymentPayPal (default), Wire Transfer (for earnings over $1,000)
Minimum Withdrawal$100 for PayPal, $1,000 for Wire Transfer
