HubSpot Releases New CMS For Marketers To Rival Wordpress

HubSpot Announces New Content Management System Designed For Marketers

HubSpot, a Boston-based developer, and marketer of software products for inbound marketing, announced a new CMS (content management system) called CMS Hub. The purpose of the CMS is to make it easier for marketers to add and update content.

Content marketing has always been a critical component of HubSpot’s business model. HubSpot hosts a popular blogging platform, which has been used by many businesses to market their products and services. However, the new CMS Hub has been built specifically for marketers.

Kipp Bodnar, the chief marketing officer, says, “For me, the marketer owning the website is one of the most thankless jobs you have. There’s a lot of pain associated with it. Your CEO asks you to update a bio, or your legal team needs new terms of service. Everybody’s coming at you from everywhere, and the actual management of websites has just a huge amount of pain associated with it.”

With this new CMS Hub, companies will be able to better choose a CMS that fits the current level of growth in the company and the level of marketing they are currently at. The CMS Hub can grow with businesses and evolve as the company’s needs change.

According to Angela DeFranco, HubSpot’s director of product management, she says, “We wanted to build a content management system and a suite of tools that could stand on its own, and take away the pain of content management. Not only from the marketer but also from the developer and the people that help the site run.”

That means that both the marketer and developer of the website will be able to work more harmoniously to build a site exactly how they want. With the new structure of CMS Hub, developers will be able to use a variety of different languages to make the site. That means that it will be easier to use, but also more powerful.

DeFranco says, “When you actually get into the editor, and you’re dragging in, for example, your event registration theme module, it inherits the styling and the characteristic, as well as the overall look and feel of that theme that the developers had set up and custom-built for your team,” she said.

What will set this CMS apart from other popular options, like WordPress, is the fact that it will make it less complicated for rapidly growing businesses to grow online too. According to DeFranco, most CMS platforms have a ceiling, which means that there is a limitation

“The theme module is the crux of how we were able to achieve some of these more complex functionality features and power, while also allowing that with drag-and-drop ease of use to build a full site as a marketer,” DeFranco states.

How To Choose The Right CMS For You

Choosing the right CMS is vital from the start because if you have to switch later down the road, it can be an expensive and time-consuming process. Here are a few types on how to decide which is the right CMS for you.

  1. Pick a scalable CMS. Scalability should be one of the top things on your mind when you are picking a CMS. Your business will hopefully grow in the future, and you will need to choose one that continues to scale when you need it.
  2. Support is vital. A system might be the best out there, but if there is no customer support available to help you if something goes wrong, it isn’t the right CMS for you. Find one that allows your developers to work and provides support when needed.
  3. Select an intuitive user interface. You want to be able to work efficiently with your CMS without having to fight through a clunky interface. By choosing a UI that is easy to use and doesn’t require a lot of technical training will make it easier for your team to make any changes quickly.
  4. Supports Integrations. Likely, you will want to incorporate different features into your marketing strategy to help you understand your audience, their behaviors, and various aspects of your business. Because marketing is such a customer-based service, you will want to make sure that your CMS solution lets you connect with other third-party content management tools. It will help your CMS be more powerful and allow you to do more things with it.
  5. Organizes your website efficiently.  When you are incorporating a new CMS into your business, one of the things you need to ensure is the website is well-organized. Having a well-thought-out and easy to navigate website can help improve the user experience of your visitors.

Ultimately, you want to pick a good CMS that doesn’t require you to rely heavily on a developer and can help you build and grow your website and business. There is no one right CMS. Discover which one is right for you!
