One such method is via the use of the Grouped Product Functionality. This feature allows you to market multiple products for a single order on one page. This tutorial will help you set up Grouped Product in Magento store.

Ready?

Let’s get started!

Step 1 – Selecting The Product Type

This first step when creating a Grouped Product is to select the product type. To accomplish this login to Magento Admin Area/backend.

Click on Products and select Inventory then go to Catalog.

Click the triangle in the upper right corner of the Add Product Tab and select the Grouped product from the dropdown list.

Step 2 – Selecting The Product Templates

There are two ways to pick a product template. You can search the desired template in the Search box or select the template you want to use from the list.

Step 3 – Filling Out The Required Fields

Next, fill in the information for the grouped product. Enter the Product Name and the default SKU for the product or provide an alternative value.

By now you are almost done, but your product is not ready to publish. In the Enable Product select No.

The product group comprises individual products, and for this reason, the Quantity field is unavailable. Skip this section and assign your product to the desired category. Here, you have several options to find an ideal product category:

  • You can type the desired category to pick the perfect match.
  • Click Show List to view the category tree and click on the category you want.
  • Alternatively, you can create a new category. Enter the Category Name and assign it to a Parent Category then click Create Category.

Once you assign the category, you can now create the product description before clicking Submit. If you need additional control make use of the WYIWYG Editor to create the product description.

Step 4 – Adding The Grouped Products

At the bottom right side of the product details, click Add Product To Group. This will take you to a new page, with options to filter the products:

Enter the details and click Apply Filters to find the product you want:

Once you find the products to be added to the group, check the boxes

Then click Add Selected Product to add the products to the group.

Once you click Add Selected Products, you will get something like this:

Enter the Default Quantity for each product.

Next, Upload an image for your Grouped product. In the Images and Videos click on the Camera Icon to browse and find your desired image. Alternatively, drag an image from your PC and drop in the Camera icon area.

Step 5 – Generating the Product

Set the Enable Product button to Yes when the product is ready for publishing. The click the Arrow Icon on the save tab and select Save & Close option.

That’s it! You have successfully created a grouped product in Magento. To view the Grouped Product in your Online Store. Click on the arrow icon on the Admin details and select Customer View from the dropdown list.

The grouped product should be like this:

Conclusion

That’s all! You have successfully created and published a Grouped product on your Magento store using the default settings. Magento default only permits users to add simple products and offers no custom option to the grouped product which is a major drawback. However, you need not worry because there are extensions that can help you add custom options for the Grouped Products.
