How to Configure the Default Document in Plesk

Introduction

The default document is a file that is usually sent by the server when a certain URL (Uniform Resource Locator) which does not contain a specific file name. It is usually the file that a server displays when a visitor opens your site. The default document can be an index or the home page that shows the web contents.

Configuring the Default Document

You can configure the default document using Plesk. To do this you log in to Plesk then click on Domain and then you select the domain that you want to configure.

Click on the domain that you want to configure the default document on.

Scroll down and click IIS Settings.

Note: On the top section of the page, the domain which you want to configure the default document is displayed.

Under the Common Settings, then in the Default documents section, you choose Enter values.

In the Enter Values text box, you can type in what you want to appear as the default document in the space that appears in the new line. Once you insert the document name, you click Apply then OK.

The names that have been entered in the list box will appear as the default document.
