X9Hosting is a world class web hosting company located in Wisconsin (US), while also operating their main server out of Atlanta, GA. Since being founded in 2005, they have actively helped develop the internet and the web hosting industry as a whole. Their top selling points is the high quality of their servers, all running top-notch machines that any web host would envy. They offer some of the best security and reliability features all while keeping a pretty affordable price.
Uptime & Reliability
Very stable hosting
Their money back guarantee lasts 30 days and has a full refund to backup any problems. For whatever reason, good or bad, they will cancel your account and return every penny. As with most hosting companies, they also offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee which is also backed up by a refund policy: downtime = money back, up to 100%. Finally, the price-lock guarantee is a promise that your hosting prices will NOT be raised, even if prices for new account set ups go wrong, and even if you only pay by month. But you get the best of both worlds: if the price happens to go down for new accounts, yours will go down as well!
Features
Standard shared hosting features
They basically offer shared hosting plans and that’s it. No virtual servers or dedicated machines. But in the shared sphere, they have quite a few plans, including reseller plans. All of their servers run on Linux with cPanel, so there is no option to get a Windows Plesk one. All shared plans are also limited in disk space and bandwidth. Even the highest-end plan only contains 8GB of disk space. Even add-on domains are limited on the most expensive plan. Some of their higher-end plans also include a free domain name with the purchase, a good bonus.
They will transfer your files, email accounts, and SQL databases for no charge with the purchase of their hosting plans, so that makes moving to a new host a bit easier. In terms of their reseller hosting plans, labeled X1 to X5, they offer decent disk space and bandwidth (ranging from 20GB – 60GB and 200GB – 600GB, respectively), for a competitive price. All reseller plans also get one free dedicated IP address, a huge bonus that will allow you to stay off a shared IP address.
One of the things I really liked about X9 is their affiliate program. Outside of some of the big-name host companies, they probably have the top affiliate plan of a mid size company i’ve seen, with commissions ranging over $300.
Support
High quality support
X9Hosting has been around for a decade, meaning they’ve “been there and done that.” They offer a 24/7 support system that isn’t just words — it’s backed up with real support platforms. They aren’t just ran in somebody’s basement, they have headquarters in Washington and they list the address. Not only do they have a local and a toll-free number for you to call, but they also have an international support system. You’d probably think that’s it..but not even close. A multitude of different e-mails to reach different departments, a live chat system that is normally online throughout the entire day, a Windows Live Messenger account, AOL instant Message account, and a Yahoo Instant Messenger account…it doesn’t mater who you are, you will be able to reach them effortlessly. In addition to all that, they have a great ticket system that allows their best technicians, not just support staff, to help with your problems.
Pricing
Fairly average prices for all hosting packages
Their cheapest shared hosting plan starts at $3.99/month. While you won’t get much disk space or bandwidth with that, you are getting the reliability of X9’s shared servers, which are some of the best in the industry — they helped build said industry after all. On the high end, the corporate and enterprise plans are $15-$25 per month, which I’m not as big of a fan of. Also, if you were to purchase a 3, 6, 12, or 24 month plan, the cost per month goes down. Some companies will tell you their plan only costs $3 a month, but they don’t tell you that you must purchase a whole years worth to get that price, otherwise their single-month pricing doubles. X9 doesn’t do that: their base price is per single month and only goes down with time.
Their reseller plans range from $25 to $65 per month and include overselling capabilities enabled in the WHM account by default. Thankfully they allow you to create unlimited cPanel accounts meaning that if you have a client base, you can use one reseller plan to handle all of their hosting needs. Their domain names are $15 per year which is mighty high, unless you’re getting one for free with a plan.
