People need to be aware that it is a bare bone service you get. So you need not only setup whatever service you want to host, but more importantly to setup al the protection yourself first before anything els. That means setup the firewall and your backup mechanism, use certificate based logins and setup things like fail2bane to block attackers.
I’m very happy with the service and will continue to use them.

Thanks for your feedback, despite it containing some inconsistencies with what actually occurred. VPSCheap provides cost effective and reliable services to thousands of customers around the globe each year.

You purchased an ext...Read Moreended billing cycle server, for which you received a discount on our normal pricing. During your checkout process, you acknowledged that you read and understood our Terms of Service (ToS), which does state that there are exceptions to the 30 day guarantee, including purchases that use extended billing cycles.

After your services were delivered and used, you voluntarily placed an immediate cancellation request. On the cancellation request screen you were presented with a bold faced, predominately displayed message stating that any 30 day guarantee requests must be approved prior to cancellation. An immediate cancellation request was submitted, disregarding the alert displayed and the request was honored.

You then submitted a ticket requesting refund and requesting GDPR removal, which was declined as outlined in the Terms of Service (ToS), which governs our policies and your rights as our customer.

We are sorry that you chose to voluntarily cancel your services and then request GDPR removal, however, we would've been happy to remove your cancellation request prior to your GDPR removal.

Should you have additional questions or concerns you may contact our customer care team using the predominately displayed options available on our website or Client Area. Staff is available 24/7/365.

The crux is as with anything in life - you get what you pay for. For the prices VPScheap are charging, they provide a very robust service suitable for people who KNOW what they're doing with a VPS, including knowing how to configu...Read Morere their bare-bones installed operating system and how to secure it against malicious ingress.

Unfortunately these days it seems everyone who knows how to enter their password on a Windows computer thinks that they're qualified to configure a remote Linux server - and that's where all of these bad reviews come from. If you have no idea about how to configure iptables, how to properly install and configure packages, or how to monitor and tune your VPS's performance, you have no business getting an unmanaged VPS - pay for a managed service and get someone to hold your hand.

Simiarly, VPScheap makes no secret about the fact that backups are NOT provided as a matter of course, but are available at an additional monthly cost. This is the same with every other hosting provider I've ever dealt with, including when leasing dedicated machines. If your VPS breaks and you didn't sign up for their backup service, DON'T expect for them to magically pull a copy of your data out of their backsides. Either pay for the backup service, or perform your own backups remotely.

I'm into my third year now of using VPScheap, on their absolute cheapest plan, and have from recollection had only one forced re-boot in that time - total outage approximately fifteen minutes in about 26 months. I don't think I've ever dealt with any hosting provider which has managed to provide better uptime than this. Having said that, I host my mission-critical services on much-higher-priced services - I'd be foolish to expect $500/month performance/features from a $20/year hosting service.

Expert Overview

Focused on VPS Hosting since 2010

VPS cheap is a hosting company that has a strong focus on virtual private servers (VPS). They were founded back in 2010 and have been growing and expanding ever sense. They operate out of a datacenter in Chicago, but they are planning on opening their own data center in the future. In addition, they are looking to begin offering their services to customers in countries outside the United States in the future, once they are able to either build or lease space in datacenters in other countries.

As the name implies, they only offer VPS hosting solutions. Despite this, however, their prices are low enough that most people who just need standard hosting could afford to use it. They are obviously trying to get people to move from shared hosting solutions to VPS options that have some significant benefits. The company works hard to keep their systems up to date with the latest standards for the industry, and the overall opinion of users is that they are doing a very good job.

Uptime & Reliability

Great Uptime History

One of the big benefits of using a virtual private server is that there are fewer points of failure, which helps to increase the stability of the hosting. The datacenter that houses the servers for this company is state-of-the-art so you can be confident that there won’t be any type of outages related to the facility itself.  The historical reliability from this company is outstanding, and users are largely satisfied with the uptime and reliability offered by VPS Cheap.

Features

A Variety of Features Available

You’ll have access to all the standard features that hosting companies offer at the VPS level, and even a few extras. All the plans are built using enterprise-grade hardware using Xeon processors and dedicated EEC RAM. They also configure the hard drives using RAID so that even if one drive dies it won’t cause an outage or a loss of data. This type of hardware also allows customers to add and remove hardware features as they need them, which is quite beneficial.

VPS Cheap customers have full root access so that you can install new applications, make changes to settings, reboot the server, and much more without any issues. This makes having a VPS much more like having a full dedicated server than is otherwise possible. You can also choose from either Windows or a variety of Linux flavors for your operating system so you are getting exactly what you want. Those who need it will be able to have an IPv6 address if desired. Many of these features come automatically at sign up, and others need to be specifically requested.

Support

Responsive and Helpful Technical Support

If you run into any technical issues with your hosting, you can reach out to their tech support team and get a response right away. They are very helpful whenever you have questions and are happy to work with you to find the right solution. They also have a nice set of tutorials and support documentation that can help you work many things out on your own if you prefer that option.

Pricing

Reasonable Prices for Quality Hosting

The prices are quite reasonable based on what you are getting. The entry level package is just $28 per year, and includes 256MB memory, 10 gigs of SSD drive space, unlimited bandwidth, and more. This is a lower price than you’ll pay for a shared hosting account at many hosting providers, and you get all the advantages of a VPS. The prices go up from there to the highest end option that is $27.99 per month. This includes 4 gigs of memory, 150 gig SSD drive, 4 core processor, and 5 IP addresses.

For those who don’t need a solid state drive solution, they have a variety of budget servers available to choose from. These packages have similar specs to the SSD options, but for a lower price. You’ll still get the VPS configuration and options, which makes these an excellent option for those who don’t need top of the line hardware to run their websites.

User Friendly

Easy to Understand Site & Interfaces

VPS Cheap has set up their website and user interfaces to be as easy to work with no matter how much experience you have with web hosting. They also explain all the different features and options to customers very clearly so people know what they are getting at each of the different hosting levels. This helps make it a lot easier for users to determine what they need.

Summary

Great for Entry Level VPS Hosting

Anyone who needs entry level VPS hosting solutions will want to consider this option if they are in the United States. The company has a good variety of different options to choose from, which can help ensure users have the power they need at a fair price. While they don’t have an top end solutions, most people won’t need that anyway so it shouldn’t be much of a deterrent.

Pros:

  • The Hosting Features are Easy to Understand
  • Great Pricing for Entry Level Hosting
  • Reliable Hosting

Cons:

  • No Shared Hosting packages
  • No Dedicated Servers
  • No Top End VPS Solutions
