This Expert Review Is Uninformed

I would have to question whether the expert review was really done in 2016 and whether the expert really had an account there - EVER. NTT SOLD Verio in 2015 to the Endurance International Group and Endurance "merged" the flailing ...Read MoreApolloHosting they already owned under the Verio name. NTT divested of it's "retail hosting" - Endurance specializes in it... Bluehost, HostGator, iPage, Domain.com, A Small Orange, MOJO Marketplace, BigRock and ResellerClub, among others they own.

The Verio customers as well as previous ApolloHosting customers mutually agree on the absolute horror they have encountered. MANY Verio customers fled and many of the remaining are in peril as Endurance has not migrated many of the accounts they have been responsible to migrate for a year now and sent notifications to those customers their services will be turned off effective November 28th. YES - the websites, email and other services Endurance/Verio has FAILED TO MIGRATE for a YEAR are simply being terminated AFTER they forced customers to accept a migrate to the new platform agreement or have their services turned off last year.

And FYI, the migraton tools they supposedly offer DO NOT WORK. I have Linux VPS, Windows shared plans and Zimbra email accounts with them. NONE have been migrated and NONE of the migration tools, links or anything else they tout even works.

The support is not knowledgeable or responsive. The uptime is dicey. I get constant "site down" notices. Needless to say you should read Verio reviews from elsewhere.
I am currently experiencing the migration nightmare you refer to. Originally signed with Best Internet in the '90s with a shell account to service email to my private domain. Bought by verio at some point. Worked acceptably well...Read More, for the most part over the years, but now with this forced migration they have lost over a month's worth of my emails, collapsed my email folder hierarchy and it looks like I won't have shell (SSH) support (not sure about that -- too far down the list to get to it yet). Support is painfully slow to deal with, promises they will fix things and then I see no progress at all. Looking for a new home for sure.Less
I agree with you. I am Verio for many many years since iServer days. I am a VPS plan. This time force migration was a disaster. My websites we down and out of email for several days. The migration instructions was not clear and ke...Read Moreep asking them for information and they just ignore me. The supports was very slow. I think I should start to plan to move out totally. Any good hosting company to recommend?Less
I went with a2hosting.com, but I don't recommend their non-cpanel VPS for novices as there's not much support. If you want to use a cPanel implementation, they provide more support. For the couple of times I did call them, the hol...Read Mored times were short or non-existent and they were knowledgeable. In all honesty, -any- provider other than Verio is going to be a breath of fresh air and welcomed change. Do a little research, pick one, and go for it.Less

Deb Malik,
Migration to their new platform has been an absolute nightmare. Ignorant tech support (if you can reach them).

Expert Overview

Many great options for new or growing websites

Verio is a well-established company, and a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Communications, which is a telecom company.  This has some perks, such as the fact that they are on a very reliable IP network through the telco portion of their business.  It also has some concerns for some people, specifically the fact that this isn’t their main business focus.

Overall, however, they seem to do a great job with hosting.  They have packages at all levels ranging from shared to dedicated and even have a nice e-commerce focused site for businesses that want to do sales online. If you are looking for the best WordPress hosting, go to this link >>

Verio is also focused on offering a lot of little extras, many of which are free.  Overall, this is a very nice hosting company that will allow you to grow your site from where it is now to as large as you can make it.

Uptime & Reliability

99.9% uptime guarantee

The uptime with Verio is quite good.  They offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee, even on their shared hosting packages, which is nice.  They also provide free virus, security and other benefits that will help keep your site up and running smoothly.

Overall, it is unlikely that you are going to run into any significant problems, and if you do, they will be fixed quickly so that your visitors don’t witness any downtime.

Many hosting packages with lots of nice features available

You’ll have a lot to choose from if you select Verio for your hosting provider.  In fact, they have so many packages that it may become confusing for some people with little experience with web hosting.  Whether this is a good thing for you is all about personal experience and preference.

Their shared hosting options come in multiple packages depending on your specific needs.  Most of them are limited on the amount of disk space and bandwidth that you can use, but purchasing more isn’t too expensive.  They also offer an unlimited plan.

The next type of hosting that is listed is an e-commerce focused plan that includes some setup and help with selling yoru products.  This is a very easy to use option for anyone who wants to implement a nice e-commerce platform but doesn’t have the time or resources to create a custom one.  It includes free web design tools as well as some marketing help.

You can also opt for a VPS package that can be either Windows or Linux.  They offer advanced security, virus protection and backup options that will help to keep your site up and safe. You can add RAM or disk space as needed on their VPS packages, which makes it very easy to keep your site up and running.

Finally, their dedicated servers are all Linux based and come in a variety of configurations.  Their advertised configurations come in just 2, 4 and 8 gigs of ram, which may not be enough for some customers.  They are also limited in bandwidth to 1, 2 or 3 TB.  You do have full root access so you can install any application without issue.

Good support and self-help available

The support teams are very qualified for helping all types of problems, which is essential for companies offering this many different hosting options.  One potential downside is that they don’t have 24/7 live support for all packages.  You can use their online ticketing system, which will get you the help you need, but many people prefer the live support.

They do have a nice knowledge base to provide some self-help tools.  Overall, the support they provide is good and will help to ensure you don’t run into any long term problems.

Packages with price points at every level

With so many packages to choose from, just about everyone will be able to find the right option at the right price.  Most things that you need will be included in your base package, and any extras that you want area available for a little more.

When comparing prices for similar packages to other hosting companies, Verio is about average.

Endless options for a great hosting experience

This hosting company has something for everyone. Whether you are just starting out on a personal blog or you are running a major corporation, you can find the right hosting packages with the right services.  They are all well supported and come at a fair price too.

  • Easy to add resources to your hosting
  • Easy to move up to a higher hosting package as needed
  • Unix, Windows, Linux and FreeDBSD all available
  • Many packages to choose from

  • So manyhosting options that it can become confusing
  • Lack of 24/7 phone support or live chat for entry level hosting
  • RAM options on dedicated servers is lower than expected
