Get the Hell out of the way of this provider!!!

We started work with this provider before approx. 3-4 yrs and at the beggining we were 100% satisfied, The support was exellent, everything was perfect. We have reseler account with about 30 websites mostly wordpress based. But su...Read Moreddenly something happened with site5 and it's not recognizable any more. Servers are notably slower, and support is just crap. I have tons of opened tickets that never been resolved. Support is crap. Don't use site5 as you hosting provider.Less

Shameless Business

We have been using Site5.com since 1996, as a small website design business we opted for the reseller account. For 24 months we have suffered the decline of its support and its service in general.

For more than a year, our CMS ...Read Morehas been indicating that the version of PHP 7.2.26 on our servers was out of date and that it would soon be obsolete and no longer supported.

Since then we have repeatedly contacted Site5 technical support requesting they to inform the date when they would update the PHP version. His answer was always not being able to guarantee when they would.

About 4 months ago we were informed that the servers would not receive the PHP update and that we would inevitably have to switch to a higher plan with a higher price. Which we opposed and started migrating our websites, which would take us several months.

Oh surprise, last month we received, without notice, an invoice with a 20% increase, when we claimed they informed us that we had to pay the adjustment.

We took opportunity and asked again if with the increase they would update the version of PHP to what again they brazenly answered us that we should change to a higher plan.

If this is not a shameless / scoundrel company, what can you call it?

A Total disgrace

I have been a customer with Site 5 for nearly ten years. I used their backstage area to manage domains for myself and my clients ( I built a few websites for customers) as well as family members and friends who needed help organis...Read Moreing domains.
From the backstage console, I could purchase, renew, cancel, and manage all the domains easily.

In the past six months the system has changed significantly. Now, domains are set by default on "auto renew". They now bill you direct to your card weeks before the renewal is due.
As I have quite a few domains I do need to know when payment is due. So I went in to the console to change the renewals to manual. When later I tried to pay for one of these, on checkout I was sent to at "select a hosting plan" page. You cannot renew your domain manually without purchasing hosting!!! Whether you need it or not.
I contacted live chat and they eventually sent me an invoice but I will be moving all my domains.
Their new system is nothing more than a cheap grab for money because you will be a) billed in advance whether you want it or not and b)unable to manually renew or purchase a domain without buying their dodgy hosting plans.

Really a disgraceful and sleazy way to treat customers.

Site5 are absolutely USELESS

Have several websites hosted with these guys and can verify their service is absolute shit.

Just finished dealing with their support after an issue their end led to 5 of my sites being down for 48 hours! I must have went throug...Read Moreh about 7 of them to get one guy who could fix the DNS cluster issue.

They used to be excellent until they got bought out, but now I will be moving to another company as soon as I can.

Side note - their interface is crap too.

Site from Awesome to Host from Hell

Site5 was the best hosting company. I had a reseller plan with them for 14 years and never ever even looked around for other providers, plans or price because their service was simply flawless and their support was awesome. Then l...Read Moreast year EIG bought them out and boy the service and support have both gone down the drain in to the depth of gutters.

An average support ticket answer time is 8 days. Yes you read it right, its 8 days and you can confirm that with their online chat. Online chat is only there to tell you that they cannot provide any ETA on your support request or why your site is not longer working of your backup restore request or pretty much anything. They are only there to say, we don't know anything and the support queue is very long.

After 14 years I finally had to migrate out of site5. Emails were not getting delivered and I lost 4 customers because of that.

To the old owner... you suck for selling it out! Please open a new hosting business and share the name
Hi Mansoor - who did you end up moving to? I'm having the same issues, support is desperately slow to respond/react, so much so that I'm thinking about leaving Site5 too. Thanks

Great performance, excellent support, nice benefits.

As a graphic designer by nature, I abhor super technical web stuff but have learned a bit thru the years. For one: the hosting providers you hear about the most GoDaddy / Hostgator are the worst and most unreliable. You are a byte...Read More in their scope of things: servers timing out, unnecessary load hangs and more expensive to boot. I really just had to float thru different reseller hosting plans thru the years until I started to know more tech-savvy people than I’ll every be.

Some programmer friends I’ve met over time recommended Site5 as being the best semi-managed reseller hosting vendor out there. So I looked up reviews online before jumping in and once I did, I dropped the tether on my other reseller. My performance is great on my sites; the WHM and ClientExec I use daily to manage accounts and invoicing. cPanel standard, not some infuriating bastardized version being peddled by other hosting companies.

Now I move my new clients to my hosting package and they are floored with the performance, which makes me look like a wizard and compliments my credibility. The times I’ve had issues, I’ve had prompt replies and great guidance. I’d hardily recommend Site5 to anyone who wants to host a site (except competitors :), with no reservations.

Site5.com – Can’t Beat the Services and Location Options

Site5.com is one of the most established web hosting companies on the market today.  They have been providing their customers with high quality web hosting for years, yet remain one of the more advanced services available. When you sign up with a new account with Site5, they will move all your sites from any other hosting solution over, free of charge.  This is a great feature since web hosting transfers can be tricky, especially if you haven’t done them in the past. One of the best features of this hosting company is that they have servers in data centers around the world.  This means you can have your site hosted in a location that is near where your visitors are from. With this option your visitors will likely notice that your site loads more quickly and is much more responsive. They have also customized their control panel (still using the industry standard cPanel) to help make it easier for newer users.  If you’re already used to the traditional cPanel setup, it is not difficult to learn this new system at all and in most cases you will likely enjoy the added usability.

Uptime & Reliability

99.9% uptime with a money back guarantee

Like most web hosting companies, Site5 offers a full 99.9% uptime guarantee.  In addition, however, they guarantee that if your site goes down, they will refund you the money.  This is a nice little perk, though in most cases it is not something you will ever take advantage of (this is a good thing). In the event that you do run into trouble, Site5 has 24/7/365 live chat and email technical support.  They also offer phone support during normal business hours. There have been very few complaints about reliability from users of this company, and given the fact that they have so many different data centers, it is clear that they are able to provide exceptional reliability.

Features & Services

Nearly endless list of high quality services available

Be careful when you start browsing through their list of available services, it seems like it goes on forever.  Some of the more important options include unlimited disk space and bandwidth on all their packages (even the entry level ones).  All their packages also include free backups, a 99.9% uptime guarantee, easy website builder and much more. You can only have one website hosted on their lowest level package, but once you move up from that, they offer unlimited domain and website hosting. If you aren’t 100% happy with the services you get from Site5, they offer a full 45 day money back guarantee, which will give you plenty of time to really evaluate their services properly.

Fair pricing for all levels of services

Site5 offers a wide variety of differnet web hosting services to choose from.  Their entry level package starts at $4.95 per month, which is about average these days.  The prices go up based on the type of services you need. In addition to their popular shared hosting services, they also offer managed and unmanaged virtual servers, which are priced quite nicely.  For example, if you are a web expert and go with an unmanaged VPS, you can get a dual core, 1 gig of memory setup for just $25 per month.  It is $50 for the same setup under the managed option. It is important to note that their prices do change based on where you select to have your website hosted.  For example, a basic package in Dallas Texas starts at just $4.95 per month.  That same package is $5.95 in San Francisco, and $9.95 in Joao Pessoa, Brazil.  Make sure you are looking closely at where you want your site hosted.  It is often worth the extra money to get the location you want, but in some cases it is better to just go with the lower price.

This is an obvious choice for anyone who is picky about where their websites are hosted.  They have almost two dozen different data centers to choose from, giving you more options than almost any other hosting company available today.  They also have a long history of providing great customer service and excellent support. <p><b>Pros</b></p> <ul class=”checkmarks”> <li>Free site migration from old hosting companies</li> <li>Nearly two dozen data centers to choose from, located around the world</li> <li>Unlimited bandwidth and disc space</li> </ul> <p><b>Cons </b></p> <ul class=”icon-x”> <li>Limited to one site on their ‘hostBasic’ plan</li> <li>Some customers have complained that their entry level hosting is somewhat slow</li> </ul>
