I am here to introduce the no.1 offshore web hosting provider since 2000 or the only offshore web hosting provider that is ISO9001:2008 accredited – Shinjiru!
You heard it right, Shinjiru has been providing offshore and anonymous web hosting services for over two decades. So, I guess they have developed superior quality in this regard.
Worry not; we’ll find out whether that’s true or not.
Shinjiru provides offshore shared hosting, VPS hosting, private email hosting, and dedicated servers. Better yet, its plans come with all the tools you might ever need for your protection. So, chances are, you will find what you are looking for here!
What makes Shinjiru unique are its eight offshore locations. The company also has its Anti-DDoS Attack network, dedicated servers, IP addresses, and an ICANN accredited Domain Registrar.
All of it comes with 24/7 monitoring performed by Shinjiru’s in-house technical support team.
Hard work sure pays off, and Shinjiru is the living proof of it. Over the years, the company has received numerous recognitions and acknowledgments. Here, I would mention ICANN Certified Domain Registrar, cPanel Certified Partner, Microsoft Certified Partner, Parallels Gold Partner, INTEL Channel Partner, Google Co-Marketing Partner, COMODO SSL Reseller, Thawte SSL Reseller, and Global SSL Reseller.
Shinjiru has also received our noble “HostAdvice Top 10 Shared Award 2020.” But worry not; it will not affect my unbiased review. If you have been following me for a while, you know I love praising the top-performing providers. But what I love even more is pointing out the red flags in a web hosting provider.
So, let’s get to work. Will Shinjiru further impress me or ruin the image I have built for it?
Getting Started with Shinjiru
Shinjiru is not your usual web hosting provider. As soon as you visit its site, you’ll understand that by yourself. It has an impressive design, with lots of attention to detail.
It divides its services into several categories, Domain, Web Hosting, and Web Protection in the Main Menu. Here, you can also find the Affiliate and Reseller Programs and some Company information.
You can find Budget Offshore Hosting, Strongbolt Offshore Hosting, Strongbolt Email Hosting, WordPress Offshore Hosting, and Bitcoin Hosting within Shared Hosting.
Virtual Hosting consists of Virtual Private Servers, Virtual Private Network, and Virtual Offshore Office.
Server Hosting covers Offshore Dedicated Servers, offshore Server Co-location, VIP Managed Services, Server OS & Control Panel, and Server Add-ons.
Next, you can find DDoS Protection, Anti-hacking Protection, SSL Certificates, and Site Lock as part of Web Protection. But more on that later.
In the Domain section, you can go for Strongbolt Domain or a Normal Domain.
If you scroll a bit down, you will find the Strongbolt Domain Registration plans. At the time of my purchase, they were at a discount. Still, I’ll skip as I plan on getting a shared hosting plan.
The question at this point is, why would you go for a Strongbolt Domain Name as opposed to a Private Domain Name?
Strongbolt Domain Names come with WHOIS Privacy Protection, Domain Management, Dual Layer WHOIS Protection, Domain Lockdown, Identity Protection, and Abuse Alert. In turn, the private domain name allows only for the first two features.
Now, enough about that. I am eager to purchase. So, let’s check the shared hosting plans.
There are so many plans to choose from. However, as per usual, I will go for the most basic option. In this case, with Shinjiru, that’s the Budget Offshore Hosting.
Shinjiru provides both Linux and Windows shared hosting plans. What I like especially is that it delivers them at the same price. So, regardless of your operating system, you will get the same treatment.
However, I spotted another difference. If you select Linux plans, you can choose from Bulgaria, Holland, Hong Kong, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Russia, and Singapore.
However, when it comes to Windows, all you get is in Malaysia.
You can choose from three plans - Malaysia Windows Basic Plan, Malaysia Windows Superior Plan, or Malaysia Windows Ultimate Plan.
The difference between the plans is the SSD webspace, the number of email accounts or websites, and memory space. You can get up to Unlimited SSD Web Space, 100 Email Accounts, 1GB Memory, and Unlimited Websites with the most expensive plan.
At a minimum, Shinjiru provides 100GB SSD web space, ten email accounts, 1GB memory, a single website, and unmetered bandwidth. The plan comes with a one-click installer, eight offshore jurisdictions, LiteSpeed technology, 24/7 ticketing, phone support, and 30 days money-back guarantee.
That works for me!
The plans are available for a month, three or six months, a year, two or three years. Once again, I will stick to a monthly plan. I am not here to stay, only for the testing.
However, if you plan on using Shinjiru after reading the full review, you might as well commit to the longer term. As you can spot, Shinjiru provides significant discounts on longer-term plans.
I selected one month and clicked on Order Now, leading me to the following screen.
At this point, you can register a new domain, transfer your domain from another registrar, or use an existing domain and update your nameservers. I went for the third option since I will use the ‘testtesting.club’ domain.
The second step is configuration. Here, you can check what your plan provides, change the billing cycle and adjust other variables. For instance, you can get a Dedicated IP or MySQL Database. In my case, Shinjiru offered me 250MB Database for an additional $9.90.
If you scroll a bit down, you will get to the available add-ons. Here, you can add Strongbolt Superior Offshore SSL Certificate, Website Restoration, Website DDoS Attack Prevention, Website Protection, Anti-Spam Email Protection, or a Dedicated IP. All add-ons come at a specified price. Unfortunately, Shinjiru doesn’t come with lots of freebies.
After adjusting everything to your preference, you can click on ‘Continue.’ Make sure to check everything (including the total due) in the square on the right before going on to the next step.
Next, you can add a promo code. Unfortunately, I don’t have one, so straight to Checkout.
The fifth and last step consists of adding your personal details and billing information.
At last, we get to Payment. Shinjiru managed to fascinate me at this point. You can choose from Bitcoin (auto or manual), Ethereum, Credit Card, PayPal, Perfect Money, Western Union, and Wire Transfer. It’s rare to find so many payment options with a web hosting provider. Way to go!
However, here, you can also notice the Gateway Charge. Shinjiru specifies the provision for each payment method in percentage and USD. I guess options come at a price. The most expensive option is Perfect Money, asking for an additional 10%, followed by Credit Card Manual.
After filling out all information, you will get to the following screen, or the Invoice itself.
I clicked on ‘Back to Client Area.’ Another way to access it is using email. If you check your mailbox, you’ll notice that Shinjiru sends you a Welcome email and the Invoice. You can follow their instructions and get to your Client Area.
Setting Things up at Shinjiru
I’m in! It’s time for testing!
First things first, let me pay my Unpaid Invoice. To do so, you can click on ‘Unpaid’ or ‘Pay All.’ Either way, you will need to enter your payment information. Once you do so, you will receive the following email.
So, now, we wait since I have no active service at the moment.
Shinjiru quickly activated my account in less than half an hour. Let’s check what the Client Area has to offer!
You can find several sections within the Menu, Services, Domains, Billing, Support, Open Ticket, and Affiliates. On the right, you can also modify your account settings or change the language. Shinjiru offers many options in this regard.
Anyhow, I’ll stick to English.
In Services, you can find My Services, Order New Services, or Check Available Add-ons.
As noted, I have a single service with Shinjiru.
If you click on Active, you’ll find the following. Here, you can upgrade/downgrade your service, change your password, or request cancellation. Furthermore, you can change your billing cycle. This feature comes in handy if you have tested the service, say for a month. Then, you can benefit from longer-term billing cycles with better discounts.
If you scroll down, you will find Hosting Information, Configurable Options, and Additional Information.
It’s time for my favorite part – navigating through the control panel, in this case, Plesk!
Plesk is divided into several sections, Websites & Domains, Mail, Applications, Files, Databases, Statistics, Users, Account, and WordPress.
Plesk allows you to create your website in a few ways - use the presence builder, install an application, or create a custom website.
Here, you can find many other options to access, such as Web Hosting Access, FTP Access, Hosting Settings, PHP Composer, SSL/TLS Certificates, PHP Settings, or IIS Settings.
Websites & Domains also covers Node.js, Presence Builder, Applications, File Manager, Web Statistics, DNS Settings, Mail Accounts, Mail Settings, Web Application Firewall, Password-Protected Directories, Website Copying, Logs, Failed Request Tracing, Hotlink Protection, Virtual Directories, Web Users, ODBC Data Sources, ASP.NET Settings, Dedicated IIS Application Pool for Website, and Advisor.
You can manage your email accounts in the Mail section, divided into Email Addresses, Mail Settings, Mailing Lists, and Outgoing Mail Control.
Email addresses allow you to create or remove email addresses, refresh usage stats, or limit outgoing messages.
You can enable/disable mail services for selected domains, change webmail or once again limit outgoing messages in Mail Settings.
Furthermore, Shinjiru allows you to create and manage mailing lists in the third section or see detailed statistics and edit limits on outgoing messages within the Outgoing Mail Control.
Next, Applications allow you to manage apps installed on your websites, view and install some of the most popular apps on your website or check all available applications.
The File Manager is well-organized, allowing you to manage everything with only a few clicks in a highly efficient manner. More precisely, you can copy, move, archive, calculate the size or change the timestamp of files.
You can access the User Manager and the Backup Manager from the Databases section.
Statistics provides a comprehensive view of the number of used resources from your subscription plan, such as traffic or disk space.
In Users, you can manage User Accounts and User Roles. More precisely, you can allow other users to access Plesk to manage websites, install applications, or use email services under your domains. In turn, the User Roles give them access to apps and services hosted on your account.
Shinjiru provides for several predefined user roles. However, you can also modify them or create your custom roles.
Now, I have to say – I love the Account section.
It sums up all you need to know regarding your Account.
You can check your resource usage, covering all Disk space, Traffic, Domains, Subdomains, Domain aliases, Mailboxes, Mailbox size, Mailing lists, Total mailboxes quota, Additional FTP accounts, and MySQL databases.
Furthermore, you can check the hosting options available for your websites, such as SSL/TLS support, Web statistics, PHP, CGI support, Perl, Python, SSI, Microsoft ASP, or Microsoft ASP.NET support.
Shinjiru sure grants you lots of permissions, and you can check them here. It’s a long, long list, covering all:
- DNS zone management
- Hosting settings management
- Common PHP settings management
- PHP version and handler management
- Spam filter management
- Antivirus management
- Backup and restoration of subscription data/account data using the server/remote storage
- Web statistics management
- Log rotation management
- Access to Application Catalog and WordPress Toolkit
- WordPress Toolkit security, cloning, syncing, and auto-updates management
- Node.js support, state, and version management
- Domains, Subdomains, and Additional FTP accounts management
- Ability to change mail settings
- Mailing lists management
- Mail autodiscover management
- Access to advanced operations: Website Copying
- Password-protected directories management
- Ability to manage additional user accounts
The last tab within Plesk is WordPress, where you can install a new WordPress site or scan to find existing ones.
Now, back to Service Details.
If you click on Upgrade/Downgrade, Shinjiru will once again offer you the same shared hosting plans.
In turn, the Upgrade/Downgrade Options lead you to add more features to your existing plan, such as the MySQL Database.
In Order New Services, you can find bunch of StrongBolt Bulletproof Domain options, such as .com, .net, .org, .ga, .gq, .cf, .tw, .me, .ml, .tk, .co, .cc, .io, .to, or .see.
Available Add-ons cover the same services as mentioned earlier (SSL, Restoration, and so on).
Next to Services, you can find Domains within the Menu. Here, you can access your domains, manage DNS, renew domains, register a new domain, transfer one to Shinjiru, or search for a domain.
Billing covers My Invoices, My Quotes, Mass Payment, and Add Funds. The last one is quite an interesting option. Shinjiru allows you to put deposits onto your account, all of which are non-refundable.
You can go for a minimum deposit of $25 and a maximum of $5,000. The ultimate goal is to avoid lots of small transactions. By putting funds in advance to your account, Shinjiru will be able to process all upcoming invoices in a somewhat automated way.
I will leave the support options for the proper section below. So, all that’s left is the Affiliates.
If you click on Activate Affiliate Account, Shinjiru will instantly generate your referral link. However, to request a withdrawal, you need a minimum required amount of $100.
Finally, if you scroll a bit down, you will see a list of all your referrals for easy management. As you can see, I currently have none.
Performance, Speed, and Uptime
Shinjiru is committed to providing the highest possible 99.99% premium SLA uptime and 99.9% standard SLA uptime for its paid services in the hosting industry. You cannot find this often when it comes to offshore hosts. Instead, they usually come with high latencies and less-than-stellar uptime.
However, Shinjiru has eight data centers located across Southeast Asia and Europe. In turn, it can offer better-than-average loading times than most offshore hosts with servers in a single country.
However, keep in mind, Shinjiru doesn’t have data centers in the Americas, Africa, Antarctica, and Australia. So, if that’s your location, you might still experience some latency.
That’s not where it ends! Apart from the highest SLA of 99.999% uptime, Shinjiru has an infrastructure allowing for advanced and highly scalable networks, top-notch network management, and protection.
Its data centers come with a built-in Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) detection and mitigation services able to absorb the DDoS attack before it reaches your server. They also feature built-in attack profiles, statistical and behavioral analysis methods to identify attacks in progress quickly.
Shinjiru’s system eliminates threats and ensures clean traffic, granting you the optimal utilization of bandwidth and no unwanted traffic. Its premium network cleans Internet traffic eliminating malware, spam and viruses without putting stress on your hardware. At last, the provider scrutinizes network traffic to identify anomalies, quarantines attack packets, and blocks malicious traffic.
To further improve its performance, Shinjiru provides LiteSpeed Technology even with the most basic option, the Malaysia Windows Basic Plan.
At last, you can get a Dedicated IP, available as an add-on during purchase. It prevents downtime and IP Blacklist from other site activities, thus enhances your site’s Search Engine Ranking (SEO).
Level of Support at Shinjiru
Shinjiru’s team doesn’t sleep! Or at least that’s what they say. They provide 24/7 live support to assist and walk you through your IT dilemmas.
You can find Tickets, Announcements, and Knowledgebase within the Client Area.
If you click on Tickets, you will see the following screen.
Now, here, they specify the availability of the support team as limited – 9 AM to 6 PM MYT Mondays through Fridays.
The Knowledgebase is pretty comprehensive. It covers all aspects of web hosting services or the following categories:
- CentOS Linux Server
- Windows Server
- MS Exchange
- VPS (Virtual Private Server)
- MANUALS / GUIDES
- CMS (Content Management System )
- Control Panel
- Dedicated Servers

- Windows Web Hosting (Plesk)

- Microsoft 365/O365
Furthermore, you can find News regarding Shinjiru, such as a DNS server being shut down.
At last, there is the Troubleshooter to help you resolve common problems and issues by walking you through a few questions.
What happens if you have an account, thus no access to the Client Area?
Shinjiru once again proves its uniqueness. Instead of a live chat feature, they offer Skype support or an end-to-end encrypted chat via WICKR.
If you click on the last link, Shinjiru will transfer you to Customer Support. From here, you can access the KB, Support Announcements, Skype, the Ticketing System, or the Website Enquiry Form.
The latest provides for a form and a specified response time of 24 hours.
As the Skype option is the closest you can get to live chat, I decided to test it out. More precisely, I already did it during my registration earlier.
The support agents are friendly and knowledgeable. However, I didn’t receive instant support. Instead, I had to wait approximately 15 minutes for a response. Once I received the initial response, they were quick to resolve the issue with my account activation.
And that’s all about it!
Security and Backups
When I purchased the Malaysia Windows Basic Plan, it came without DDoS protection. However, as mentioned before, you can choose to add it for a price during registration. More precisely, there are several security add-ons in addition to DDoS.
First, you can go for a Strongbolt Superior Offshore SSL Certificate compatible with 99.9% of browsers. It’s the 2,048-bit industry-standard SSL Certificate with an immediate SSL delivery. Better yet, you won’t need any verified documents for its use.
Next, you can get a Website Restoration service with multiple time machine restoration points. In turn, this product prevents data loss from accidental overwrite, business revenge, hacking or website defacement.
Shinjiru offers two options when it comes to DDoS. You can go for Website DDoS Attack Prevention (Grade: Layer 4) or (Grade: Layer 7).
Both products prevent website disruption and downtime, protect against DDoS attacks, and come with auto mitigation and protection. While the first option allows for layer 4 DDoS protection and up to 1Gbps bandwidth protection, the latter takes things to another level. As the name implies, it comes with layer 7 DDoS protection and up to 5Gbps bandwidth protection.
Shinjiru further provides SiteLock Website Protection, being the most popular in its niche. It features a SMART scanner, file change monitoring, automatic malware detection, and removal. Thus, it guards you against bad bots and malware, simultaneously increasing your website speed.
Finally, you can go for Anti-Spam Protection with 99% spam blacklist accuracy.
The company specifies what you get in each plan, along with the benefits of DDoS Protection.
You can also get Anti-hacking protection with the Linux Server Hardening + Firewall Services plan. Unlike DDoS, this one is a one-time purchase. So, after the initial investment, you can rest assured for quite some time.
The Server Hardening Services performs several tasks, covering the following aspects:
- CSF Firewall
- cPanel Update
- Linux Malware Detect
- Sysctl.conf hardening
- Secure PHP
- MySQL Optimization
- Apache Optimizations
- System Integrity Monitor
- Root Login Email alert
- RootKit Hunter
- Clam AntiVirus
- Shell Fork Bomb
- Control Panel
- DNS Attacks
- Secure(SSH) Hardening
- Disable Anonymous FTP Access
- Brute Force Detection
Shinjiru offers four SSL Certificates, Strongbolt SSL, Domain Validation, Organization Validation, and Extended Validation.
Its SSL Plans include SHA-2 and 2048-bit encryption, unlimited servers protection, Warranty Guarantee, Unlimited 24/7 live support, a Security Seal displayed on your site, encryption Level, compatibility with all major browsers, unlimited free reissues, and website security.
Finally, Shinjiru provides four SiteLock Plans, SL Basic, SL Professional, SL Premium, and SL Enterprise.
Specific Features of Shinjiru
Now, we get to the question, what makes Shinjiru better than other web hosting providers?
This offshore provider is well aware of its qualities, as it has a dedicated section for this sole purpose. Shinjiru has the following superior features:
- Certified Domain Registrar
- Eight Offshore Data Centers
- Enterprise-Grade Hardware Components
- Top-Level Security, Identity Protection, And Anonymity
- Strongbolt Web Hosting Solutions
- High-Speed Bandwidth
- 100Gbps Anti-DDoS Protection
- Professional Assistance 24/7/365

During September, Shinjiru:
- No updates
I have to be honest, Shinjiru managed to impress me. Going for a web hosting plan with this provider is like exploring a sea of neverending opportunities. I don’t even know where to start.
Shinjiru offers a bunch of plans and available add-ons. Thus, it can suit various needs of customers worldwide. It has eight data centers, allowing for superior speeds and uptime, rare for offshore hosting providers. The best part is, Shinjiry has an Anti-DMCA Policy!
As you probably noted, most of the content within the review revolved around security features. After all, that’s the point of an offshore web hosting provider – to grant you the ultimate anonymity and safety. Shinjiru indeed knows how to ensure that. It delivers many security-enhancing features, such as DDoS Protection, Anti-hacking Protection, SSL Certificates, Site Lock, and Anonymous Payments, covering Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Furthermore, Shinjiru is especially generous with recourse allocations. For instance, it provides 100GB SSD web space, ten email accounts, 1GB memory, a single website, and unmetered bandwidth in its cheapest plan.
Now, how cheap is the cheapest plan is another topic. See, there are many more affordable solutions on the market. However, if you aim for top quality, you will certainly have to pay for it.
Finally, Shinjiru offers extensive options when it comes to customer support. As a user, you can use the live chat, end-to-end encrypted chat (WICKR), ticketing system, website inquiry form, or navigate through the knowledge base and support announcements. Still, they need to improve a bit in their response times.
