Scaleway is a high quality hosting and data storage company. They use cloud based technology to help provide great user experiences for all their customers. One of the things they are best known for is the fact that they can add and configure resources in just seconds to any hosting package you happen to need. This is great for growing sites or companies that are looking to keep up with the heavy demand of their customers.
They use bare metal servers with solid state drives for the fastest response times possible. They also allow you to be billed either monthly or hourly, which is a good option for certain types of businesses that don’t really need 24/7 service. While all their packages use cloud hosting, they do offer dedicated servers and VPS solutions to help make it easier to understand.
Overall this is an excellent hosting provider that has high end hosting solutions and much more for any company looking for a great experience.

M1 service is good, but they want your ID to use it
The Mac M1 cloud service is good and ok in regards to pricing. However, I was only able to use it for 5 hours and then they locked my account asking for proof of identity. Please note that the identity verification was optional in the dashboard. They asked me for a photo of my ID and a selfie of me holding my ID via email (again huge concern). Never have I ever been asked for such information from Amazon, Google, Heroku, Azure etc. I was just using the M1 with Xcode and they mentioned that my account was locked due to a "potential security issue" and an "an inconsistency in your account details", therefore "for security reasons we need to identify you as the owner of the personal and banking data you have saved on this account". I asked them to kindly further explain the inconsistency that they found and they refused "Due to internal security and privacy reasons, we cannot share the detailed information that lead to this decision". Absolutely outrageous, they expect the customer to send them personal information (ID, selfie, address), and they refuse to explain why. I think they just want you to have a taste of their services and then just lock you out of your account until you provide your data, because I've seen lots of users complaining about this. Had I not saved my work, it would've been lost and kept for ransom (my personal info). So that's the end of my experience with Scaleway and will not return as a customer. Thanks!
Don't let the low costs fool you; they will add on hidden charges repeatedly, over and over again and then blame you for being charged. Their customer service is dreadful and they never answer your questions.
Do not add your bank details to their website. You will end up paying for nothing. Even if you don't user their services they will charge you for no reason and you will not be able to remove your 'card from there. Avoid Scaleway as much as possible.
I have been using Scaleway continuously for over a year and have been very pleased with it. The current server hosts 4 domains and a mail server, has Jenkins CI building packages, Mosquitto server for IoT and much more. I have never had an outage and it has been 100% reliable I quite often take out a short term server to trouble shoot ARM specific code for instance and just being able to launch it, do whatever you need, then delete it again is excellent. The billing can sometimes be a bit arcane, as resources stay visible even after they have been deleted, making you think you are still being charged for them. Support is fine, I got an answer when I had a query. I also got a positive response when I wanted to open up ports for the mail server, just had to provide extra ID, so they were happy I was not a serial spammer.
Scaleway could be seen as cheap and competitive ...
Scaleway could be seen as cheap and competitive but when you are starting to use their services, you can understand how they treat to the customers like a useless and gives 0 support when something gets serious. They recently suspended my droplet regarding billing payment failure (Which charged 8 days ago and I don't have any overdue payment) during the busy hour. When I opened the ticket to customer support, they replied me that It could happen when the new invoice is creating as a draft. And I was pretty sure, they have a system failure and that's why they locked my server during the busy hour but they never accept any mistake which has done from their side.
Because I don't feel safe on Scaleway anymore, I am switching to Amazon today.
So I signed up with these people to test out their platform, I ended up going with another solution. I had fired up an instance and then after testing and realizing it was not a good fit, I shut down all services.
I then noticed that my card was being charged from Scaleway, I double checked no services were running. On contacting support, I was informed that I had an active IP address and that was the result of the billing, I have also checked the back end and there is no way to turn it off or unassign or anything. It is outright theft, really.
I would AVOID at all costs and if you do try them, delete your account after you realize they suck.
Best service I've EVER used for VPS / Dedicated Servers!
I've used many different hosts, may it be OVH, or some random company who provide VPSes for dirt cheap. Scaleway was the first one that really surprised me here with 800 mbps download, and nearly 200 mbps upload (no bandwidth cap!). It's a very nice service, and I received my server within 3 minutes with no problem. If you haven't used this service yet, you definitely should. It'll be worth it in the long run!
Where are you? I wish I could claim similar results. I am already beginning to see the billing issues others have complained about. They really know how to obfuscate. If they had honest intentions it would work like vultr or digital ocean - it's worse than Alibaba was when they first started. I'm glad my amounts have been small, but they are large relative to the service I've gotten.
