It all comes down to support...

2.8
I went with netvirtue after a thorough search for Australian-based SSD servers. All reviews seemed amazing, so I've been hosting Melbourne clients with them for over a year now.

What constantly lets me down is their support. Th...Read Moreey are just not helpful - they dodge the question every time and don't seem to read the support requests as they always answer with nonsensical replies.

The support I received with Bluehost (at something like $3/month for unlimited sites!) was sooo much better. I would assume that a niche host would have outstanding support, but it isn't the case with NetVirtue.

They are not the worst though frankly - A Small Orange out of the US has managed to frustrate me slightly more the NV.

Yet I find GoDaddy has incredibly reliable support. It seems that if support matters to you, you need to go with one of the larger companies. This is why I'll be switching my hosting over to DigitalPacific for Australian sites.

We have been with Netvirtue for years and were planning to leave for a long time after several server crashes and downtime, having to wait for days before the site was online again without any form of compensation (as a matter of ...Read Morefact more expenses because of 'bumping' support tickets). Very limited and slow support and to top it off terrible spam issues and being blacklisted (despite of several warnings from our end that something was not right). On we move! Would definitely not recommend Netvirtue.Less

Dumb support, not reliable, interface not friendly

1.2
We moved to Netvirtue from Uberglobal due to restriction of using AU exchange.
After performing email migration I discovered some sent items were missing. Activesync wont sync properly and many other issues with calendar and Emai...Read Morel sync.
I logged a ticket and they closed it saying we did not found any issues lol.
Till date they are unable to recover lost items and they wont reply back.
Support staff has no technical knowledge what so ever, not reliable, webmail interface suckes, and their Spam protection not reliable and dumb.

only the price is OK but i suspect may be that's the reason they sucks

No support, they blame you instead

1.6
I have a reseller account with them (not for long though, I'm moving asap). Webmail became really slow or inaccessible. The 'support' is non-existent, they basically blame you and make stupid suggestions, like 'back up your email folder and reinstall accounts'. Stay away.

Dean Walsh,
Hi Daniel,

I've pulled up the ticket in question, at no point did our staff blame you for your issue you were having. Nor can I even find any inclination that is what our staff was suggesting. You immediately went to threaten u...Read Mores by posting a 'bad review' even though we were still working on avenues to resolve the issue for you.

We simply said we were unable to replicate this problem. Even though we were certain this particular issue wasn't something on our side, we asked cPanel to investigate further to be 100% through and they ultimately came to the same conclusion.

If you're having a genuine issue and wish to address this with us, please reach out at feedback@netvirtue.com.au, we'd be more than happy to look into this further for you.

Kind Regards,
Dean Walsh

Daniel
Daniel,
"Even though we were certain this particular issue wasn't something on our side..." what does this mean? It's similar to a reply I got when I needed assistance as I could not access my email. Do you understand that this means that...Read More if it isn't your 'side', then it must, by default, be mine? So you're contradicting yourself by again indicating that it is somehow my fault. Even now it took me about 25 minutes to access my email. Never mind, I am in the process of selecting another host. Less

Dean Walsh,
Daniel,

If it's not something we and cPanel can replicate, it generally is something that is on your side. It could be almost anything and I'd like to investigate as I've already offered an escalation channel so we can begin to...Read More look at the problem.

If not, best of luck with your new web host.

Kind Regards,
Dean

Daniel
Daniel,
Thanks Dean, but what stops you from investigating? It's NetVirtue's platform, I am simply renting the space. I have not been backend until the issue arose in the first place, and then I only looked at things, changed passwords, ...Read Moreand downloaded my email folders - so it must be something that NetVirtue has done with the relevant software, it cannot be anything else. If it is something that is connected with my mail boxes, then I expect you to tell me that as well. If I was a software engineer, I would have my own servers, but since I am not, I expect the service I am paying for to be inclusive of any software troubleshooting. I am puzzled by the attitude, it's plain that you do not take any responsibility for the service NV is providing, which, in light of all the complaints here and elsewhere, is just not making any good business sense. No mongoDb support, horrible unintuitive interface, no documentation support

1.2
I bought a package here because I was told by their own customer support they provided mongo support. After I paid and logged in... is there a mongo portal? No. So I again contact support, where the representative has no idea what...Read More mongoDb is. Seriously? Even if they had known, they do not have noSQL configs. There was no documentation helping me to set up a custom server either. When I requested a refund for being lied to before purchase, I had to submit a ticket.. who knows how long that will take. Overall customer service is awful (although they do answer and its not a bot so 1 star for that at least), Their interface is average and having no documentation is inexcusable. As is having no idea what mongoDB is. Pricing wasn't even great compared to the big players.Less

Not secure, support just isn't there

Website suffered multiple hacks after migrating across to Netvirtue. Support were of little to no assistance. Has cost me my web content, as I have had to build a website from scratch. Much better offshore host providers available.
Dean Walsh
Dean Walsh,
Hi Sam,

Website security is ultimately the responsibility of the webmaster, we have a number of tools such as mod_security to help protect your websites against attacks. Our rulesets on our servers go much further than most web...Read More hosts (anything to suggest to the contrary is just wrong).

It's important in future to ensure your website is maintained and kept up-to-date which appears wasn't the case here and ultimately why your website was compromised.

We do have development solutions available and are always offered, so it appears you may not have wanted someone to fix the problem with your website, but blame the web host instead.

If you have any further feedback we'd love to hear it regardless at feedback@netvirtue.com.au.

Expert Overview

Experienced Australian Hosting Provider

Netvirtue is an Australian hosting company that has been in business since 2011. They offer a variety of hosting options, and continue to expand and improve the services they provide. Over the years they have continuously reinvested their money into the company to help ensure it is always leading the way in terms of technology and customer service. Some major improvements include, in 2012 they moved to a 24/7 support system, and in 2013 they rebranded themselves to draw more focus on their quality and customer service. One of the biggest projects began in 2014 where they began their hardware refresh project to replace all their hardware with modern systems, which include solid state drives.

In 2015, the company moved over to a custom built network (AS132680) that was designed specifically with their needs, and the hosting needs of their customers, in mind. This has helped them to provide some of the fastest hosting solutions in Australia, and expanded their ability to meet the growing needs of customers from throughout the region. They currently operate out of three data centers, one in Brisbane, one in Sydney, and one in Melbourne.

Uptime & Responsibility

No Reports of Reliability Issues

Hosting with Netvirtue appears to be very stable. They house all their equipment in state-of-the-art datacenters that have fully redundant power supplies, network connections, and more. The hardware used is also high end, including solid state drives in most of their servers. The SSDs can help to avoid down time due to drive failures. Unfortunately, Netvirtue only offers a 99.5% uptime guarantee, which his slightly below the industry standard of 99.9%.

Features

Advanced Features for All Hosting Packages

Customers of Netvirtue can get shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, SSL certificates, email hosting, and domain name registration all in one place. Going through and looking at all the different features within their hosting packages, it is clear that they put a priority on keeping up with the latest technologies.  One really nice feature of this hosting provider is that they let you choose which of their datacenters you have your information hosted in. For those in Australia, this will help them to make sure the website is loading from the location that is closest to the customers, which can help improve speed and functionality.

Almost all the hosting servers have solid state drives, which help to improve response speeds and improve reliability as well.  The VPS servers come in four different packages that include from 20 to 120 gigs of disk space, 1 to 6 gigs of RAM, and 2 to 8 CPU cores assigned to the VPS. This will be plenty to run most mid-sized websites without any issues.  Dedicated servers are significantly more powerful with strong CPUs (up to 32 cores), as much as 64 gigs of RAM, and dual hard disks configured with RAID 1 for added stability. If you want to use your own servers, they also have a colocation option to consider.

Support

24/7/365 Tech Support Available

The technical support teams are available 24/7/365 to help you with any type of trouble you are having. Their teams are on site and ready to respond to any type of hardware issue, which they can often detect prior to any actual customer impact. Since the hosting packages are all managed, they will also be there to help with any questions or problems you are having. There is also a fairly in depth knowledgebase for self-help information.

Pricing

Reasonable Prices at All Levels

All the prices offered by this company are quite reasonable. No matter what type of hosting you need, the pricing will match up nicely with the level of service you are getting. For shared hosting options there are four economy options and four business options. These start at $3.95 per month and go up from there. They have reasonable amounts of RAM and bandwidth available and will keep your sites up and running smoothly all the time.

When you get up to the dedicated server level, the prices get quite a bit higher, but so do the features. The entry level dedicated server is $199.95 per month, and the highest end option is $899.95 per month. These prices do get you very powerful servers that will be able to handle most any type of hosting needs, even for very busy sites. The dedicated servers are also managed so you’ll get the support you need to ensure everything is running the way you want it.

User Friendly

Easy to use Services

Netvirtue uses all standard interfaces such as cPanel for the users. This makes it far easier to work on for those who have had experience with hosting in the past. Even those who haven’t had websites in the past, however, won’t have any trouble using their systems. The website is well made and easy to navigate, which makes choosing your services quick and easy. No matter what it is you’re looking for, everything about this company is easy to use.

Summary

Excellent Hosting in Australia

When it comes to hosting in Australia, you aren’t likely to find a company that has more to offer than Netvirtue. They don’t stand out in all areas, but they really don’t lack in any areas either. Pros:

  • Almost Exclusively Solid State Drives
  • Reasonable Pricing
