Name.com is one of the larger domain name registrars in the market. In addition to this, however, they also offer several shared hosting packages to their customers. They don’t offer anything beyond shared hosting, but for those who only need this type of hosting, they do provide a high quality service.
Their hosting comes with all the standard features you would expect including MySQL databases, the ability to manage email addresses and spam protection. The speed of their hosting is surprisingly high, especially for shared hosting. This is an indication that they don’t overload their servers like so many shared companies seem to do these days.
Unlike some companies that offer hosting as a secondary business, Name.com seems to actually have put some effort into this service. They keep their hardware and software up to date and provide nice support for their hosting customers.

99% uptime guarantee with few customer complaints
You’ll get a 99% uptime guarantee, though what type of credits you get if it drops below this point is unclear. Most companies today are offering at least 99.9% guarantees too, which makes this one not quite as good.
Despite the questionable guarantee, however, they do provide a good, reliable hosting option to people who are running simple sites. You don’t want to run a major corporation or even a mid-sized business here, but for personal blogs or entry level sites, you shouldn’t have any issues.
Standard shared hosting features with very few extras
There is nothing really standing out in their feature list to speak of. That being said, however, there are no features that are really missing either. When it comes to basic web hosting on a shared server, they give you what you need.
One nice feature is their web stats option, which is provided on all packages. While it doesn’t give any information that you couldn’t get from Google Analytics or another similar service, it is nice to have it built right in. This is especially true for newer webmasters.
Good support when you need it
They don’t specifically say when they have technical support available. Their main toll free number is only active during the day, as is their main email contact. They do have an online ticketing system that you can use, but it is not immediately clear when they will get back to you. When you do get in touch with someone, their technicians seem to be skilled and able to resolve most issues quickly and easily.
High base price that drops with longer agreements
The base price for their lowest shared hosting plan is $6.99 per month, but that drops down to $4.99 if you pay for a year up front. If you need an SSL certificate, that costs another $9.99 per year on their first two packages, but it is included in their highest option.
They do have a full 30 day money back guarantee available, which is always nice to see.

While you certainly can’t compare this hosting company to many of the others out there, they aren’t trying to compete for the same business. They want to give entry level webmasters a simple place where they can buy a domain and do the hosting all at once, and that is what they’ve done. No huge benefits here, but no problems either.

I bought one domain as per recommendation by a business coach. I was hoping the experience would be less painful than another company. And it was, The user interface is easily navigable, for a newbie that is a blessing! and customer support was prompt, professional and knowledgeable.
I've been using Name.com for about 10 years. It started out as acceptable, and by now it is truely exceptional. Al essential service are included, eliminiating amny hiden costs, the other's don't like to tak about. Except to get you to pay more.
I used the live chat feature to help me out with redirecting my Name.com domain to my bigcartel website and they were so helpful! I really appreciated the screenshot given and the clear instructions on what to fill out.

I have been a customer for years. The prices are very good, and so is the support. My only wishes would be that email support is a bit faster and that they re-establish support per phone. However, once you enter a chat with a customer support helper, the answers are very good and clear!
