Mambo Microsystems is a good quality hosting company based in Kenya. They have built a good reputation for both their shared hosting and their dedicated servers. While not perfect in every way, they are one of the better options in Kenya. In addition to web hosting they also offer security options (SSL Certificates) website design services and mobile app design (for android, IOS, Windows and Blackberry).
Overall they seem to do a great job for almost any type of service they provide. Most people are quite happy with them so if you’re looking for a hosting provider in Kenya, this may be the ideal choice.
Uptime & Reliability
Good Stable Hosting
The hosting is all on good quality hardware and they seem to have a good reputation for stable hosting. I did see a few complaints here and there, but nothing that really gave me pause for concern. They also have a 14 day money back guarantee (for shared hosting) so if you run into issues you can always switch. Based on their hardware and other factors, however, I think most people will be very happy with the hosting experience they have.
Features
Standard Hosting Features
Their hosting options are all in line with industry standards. All packages come with a free domain name, which is nice. Their disk space for shared hosting uses a RAID array, which adds additional stability (no down time even with a single disk failure). The amount of disk space is quite generous, starting at 15 gigs and going up to unlimited in the shared hosting category.
Bandwidth is always unlimited, which is nice to see. They use the cPanel system, which is the most popular option out there. They do limit you to one website for their entry level package, but it goes up to 10 and then unlimited from there.
When looking at their dedicated hosting solutions you’ll see that they are all quite nice. They do limit you on bandwidth here, but it is at 100TB so almost nobody will run into problems hitting that level. Their servers are setup the same day as you order them so you can get everything up and running quickly. All servers have 4 cores at 3.4GHz. It would be nice if the CPUs went up with the price, not sure why they don’t. Memory starts at 8 gigs of DDR3 and can go up to 16GB.
Support
Reasonable Tech Support
This company provides good tech support through the phone, email, skype or a ticketing system. They are only open from 8AM-9PM (local time) which is obviously not good. They do have tech staff on all day but it would be nice to be able to get ahold of them 24/7. They also have a nice knowledgebase and blog to learn more about your hosting experience.
Pricing
Somewhat Overpriced
The pricing is all done in the Kenyan currency. When I converted it to US dollars the prices seemed higher than I would have expected. There are many factors that can influence this type of thing but for their entry level hosting package it is 3000 KSH ($29.41 at today’s exchange rate). This is very high for shared hosting.
Summary

If you want hosting in Kenya, this is a nice option to consider. They have a good reputation in the area and have done a good job at keeping up with the latest hosting trends. They also do domain registration, security, web and app design. This means you can use them for all your tech needs, which is always convenient.
