Kimsufi appears to be a reseller, which offers hosting solutions powered by OVH. OVH is one of the world’s largest hosting companies. There is nothing wrong with going through a reseller and in some cases it can actually get you a lower price or higher specs than would otherwise be possible. Of course, it is good to know that is what you’re working with up front.
This company only offers VPS and dedicated servers for hosting, so if you’re looking for an entry level solution, you will want to move on. The options they have at these levels, however, are going to be able to meet the needs of most people. When you sign up with this company they guarantee the quality of their services and they check things like the CPU load, BIOS version, disk speed and much more to ensure you are getting the best level of service possible.
Uptime & Reliability
Hosting is Quite Reliable
While I don’t see an uptime guarantee offered, the hosting with this company does seem to be very reliable. They offer a high quality Anti-DDoS system to help keep your site protected from attacks and they also do a good job at ensuring the data center is up and using the latest technologies for stability. Since you will have solid state drives it is very unlikely that your server will go down due to drive failure. The overall quality of their hardware, however, leaves a lot to be desired. While I didn’t find people complaining about outages or downtime, many of the servers they offer aren’t really commercial grade solutions so that does add some risk of downtime.
Features
Excellent Hosting Features
Whether you are in need of a dedicated server or a VPS solution you will be able to quickly find exactly what you need. They have everything laid out in very simple terms so you will know what you’re getting with each package. The VPS solutions all come with solid state drives, which is great. These SSDs are configured using RAID 10 technology for additional stability. They use OpenStack KVM to give you the best control over your server. You’ll also get 2-8 gigs of RAM with your VPS.
The dedicated servers are quite nice, though they certainly aren’t on the high performance end. They have six dedicated server packages to choose from, though as of writing this review only three of them are in stock and available. The highest performance server available is an Intel Core i7, which is not a bad server but most people who are looking for dedicated solutions want something higher end.
Support
Helpful Staff
If you run into trouble the technical support team will be there to assist. They respond quickly to trouble tickets and can typically address the problems right away. They also have a Forum available to learn more about their services or get some assistance from other users. Other than the forum, however, they don’t really have any type of self-help tools or documentation.
Pricing
Very Low Pricing
Kimsufi is clearly a company that is looking to provide low cost hosting solutions to their customers. The VPS packages are priced along the lines of what most people would expect to pay for shared hosting. Of course, this means that the server specs are on the low end as well (though you do get solid state drives, which is nice). The entry level VPS is just $3.49 per month and that goes up to $13.49 for the highest end package. Many people will benefit from choosing one of these low cost VPS solutions over a nice shared package.
Dedicated servers start at just $5 per month (though it is currently out of stock) for a very low end dedicated server. Their highest end option is just $28 per month. If you need the complete control over your server but you don’t require high end hardware, this is an excellent option to consider. If you need a strong dedicated server, on the other hand, this company won’t be able to meet your needs.
User Friendly
Easy to Use Systems
They really only have a small number of hosting options, which makes it easier to compare and see what you want. The server specs are clearly listed so you can quickly find what you need and sign up. If you need to get in touch with the sales team or technical support, that is all quite easy as well. To put it simply, this company does a good job at offering a user friendly experience to all their customers. They are clearly focused at helping people who are newer to running websites, but still need a quality experience and they do a good job at accomplishing that goal.
Summary
Take Care when Signing Up
There are a lot of things to be concerned about with this company, but as long as you take the time to really understand what you are signing up for, they may be a great option. Kimsufi seems to be targeting the small niche of users who require great control over their servers but not very powerful hosting servers. This is why they offer low cost VPS and dedicated servers. While this is not what most people will need, it is an ideal solution for some.
