Ibumu is a shared hosting provider that is focused on serving the people of South America (as well as Mexico). They specifically state that they target Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. They only offer shared hosting, reseller hosting, domain name registration, email marketing and that is it. The services they do provide, however, are pretty nice. They aren’t too expensive and they seem to be able to keep their customers very happy. They report that only 3.8% of their active customers ever request support, which is a good indication that they keep everything up and running smoothly at all times.
They do provide stable hosting for their customers. The hardware they use seems to be very nice, and from what I can find they are housed in a nice data center. In addition, if you need help due to outages or anything they are very quick to respond with 24/7 tech support. I looked around on social media and other locations and did not find people complaining about outages or even slow downs. In addition, the anti virus and anti-spam services will help you to keep everything up and running smoothly.
When you look through the list of features they offer you will see that it is quite nice. They have five main hosting options to choose from with a variety of options in each one. The entry level option comes with 600 megs of disk space and 3 gigs of bandwidth. When you move up to the highest level hosting option they offer, you’ll get 6 gigs of disk space and 40 gigs of bandwidth. All their options also come with a 7 day free trial, which is nice.
You can have unlimited subdomains on all their packages, and they also offer custom error pages, directory protection, web mail, email auto responders and more. They seem to only offer Linux for the operating system, but they do have cPanel for the control panel, which is nice. You’ll also get an anti-spam filter and an anti-virus option no matter which of the hosting services you choose.
The tech support with this company is very good. They are staffed 24/7/365 and are able to meet your needs if you’re having problems. Their tech support appears to be on of the main focuses for the company, and everything I can find points to the fact that they have done a great job keeping everything up and stable with this company. They also have a nice blog and FAQ to provide you with additional information that can help you to avoid outages or manage your site well.
The prices are higher than I would expect. For the entry level option you’ll pay $210 per year, and there are no options for monthly payments. As you move up to higher level packages you do start getting the option to pay semi-annually, quarterly or monthly. THe most expensive option is $62 per month, or $575 per year. While the hosting is nice, it is still a shared option so the prices should really not be this high.
The hosting with this company is going to be quite good when you look at other options in the area. They do have good shared services that will meet the needs of most people in this region. With no uptime guarantee, some people might be worried about outages, but that doesn’t seem to be a big problem. The biggest area of concern for Ibumu is their prices, which are too high.
