Expert Overview
Simple hosting since 2011
Host Nurse has been around since 2011, which means they are a fairly new hosting company. They provide mostly entry level hosting services to their clients, and they do a pretty good job of it. Unfortuantely, they don't really give any indication as to where they are located on their site. We were able to find that they are in California, but it would be much better if they had that listed clearly on their home page or at least in their About Us page.
Uptime & Reliability
99.9% uptime guarantee
They offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee, but then when you look at the top of their page they say "We have 99% uptime record" which is either a type-o or they don't really meet their guarantees. I haven't found any major complaints about uptime though, so the chances are pretty good that they have very reliable hosting services.
Features
Nice entry level hosting options
Host Nurse offers a variety of different packages including shared hosting, VPS and 'SEO' hosting. Each of these gives some nice features. For the entry level options you are limited to 5, 10 or 20 gigs of disk space, which is really more than enough for most people. They do have unlimited bandwidth, which is nice. And all their hosting options include cPanel, which is the most popular control panel.
Their SEO hosting is a nice feature where they provide you with some extra SEO services on top of their normal hosting. This will help many people to rank better with Google, which is very important.
They also have common features like Sotfaculous, FrontPage, RVSiteBuilder and more. When you look at their packages you will see that they have everything you'll need to host most types of sites.
Support
Good quality support
You will have access to their knowledge base, and their network status page, which provides you with some valuable information. If you need assistance with any problems you can submit a ticket or contact them directly on their site. Overall, their support is pretty typical.
Pricing
Good pricing options
The pricing starts at $3.99 per month, which is slightly below what you might expect. As you go up to higher hosting packages you will pay up to $9.99 for shared hosting, which still is not bad at all. When you add on the SEO services the price really rockets up. ($195/month for the entry level). It is hard to say if it is worth it for that price. If they can truly get you to rank well for competitive keywords it would be, but that seems unlikely.
Summary
Pretty good hosting for most types of sites
Host Nurse is a newer hosting company, but they do have some very nice services. You may want to be careful about what you order, however, because some options are very expensive (SEO services). Others, however, are very reasonable and you get a great service for the price. If you need hosting in California for an entry level to mid-level site, this is a pretty good option.
Pros:
- Easy to understand hosting
- Fair pricing for most packages
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
Cons:
- SEO services are expensive
- They say they have a 99% uptime record
