Custumer service deleted my plugins directory for my domain after I called into support with an error 500. They failed to respond in 48 hours given the urgency of the issue. There is no site backup and the lady also removed something else so that i cannot install plugins now. I have requested 2 urgent support tickets.
Clearly the employement requirement is almost as low as the managemnt level. Been trying to transfer a .coza domain for over a week now. Have not even received the confirmation email. Cant put up my company website. and nobody answers any emails or the phone. this is just the lateset in my struggles with Grid host, or 1 grid, or whatever name they are calling themselves now. Webafrica was so-so on a good day but since the split its all gone completely down the drain. The last domain I transferred was a mission because they would not let me cancel because the email on my account didnt match the email I was requesting the cancelation from. So I used my other email account and they said it still wasnt a match which was BS because I logged onto my acount with that. When they eventually sent me an email "hint" it was the same one I originally used, which incidentally, is not the one my account is registered with.
Grid Host split of from Web Africa and then again become 1-Grid only a couple of months along the line. The lack severely the support, service and professionalism that I have received from WEB Africa. I would definitely not recommend them as a hosting company.
Hi Paula, I so agree... I am being refused to move my service unless I pay them an invoice which they are not entitled to, in the interim my business begins to suffer cos I don't have access to my emails or website
Their customer service is the worst anyone can ever experience. They do not answer their phones at all. You have to settle for a support ticket, which will be responded to whenever. They respond as if they are doing you a favor.
The billing is confusing as they bill you for every product as the date nears, instead of placing all items on 1 invoice and sending it to you at the end of the month.
There is no care whatsoever on what happens to your services or your clients. They make mistakes and then ignore you for days. You have to keep chasing after them to correct the mistakes they have made. This is the most frustrating thing one can experience.
I will never recommend anyone to host with this company. It's more like a hoax of a company that just wants you to pay and not interested in the services and support they supposed to provide. Even if you account is in credit, don't expect any better service. You will find out the hard way!
If you are hosted with them and are expericing issues like what I've described here and what many people have posted on the internet and on Hello Peter, then you know what I'm talking about.

The Gridhost guys are always helpful beyond the scope of their duties - always friendly - always give more assistance than expected! Call Backs - Follow Ups and even the "not really part of their job" advice! - Just the BEST - forget the REST!
I havent received an invoice from them for a year -after i was under the impression that I paid webafrica a year in advance in December. Now my account seems suspended and as I cannot get into my email or my client domain I have no way of knowing what I owe them. If you call their offices you reach a long and boring recording. If you mail their support you get no response. Personally I cannot believe that webafrica would allow their clients to migrate to a company like this as this is the worst clients services yet seen in South Africa.
People stay away from this company, there customer service is the worst i have seen ever. Things were better when the company was still under Gridhost, but these day, they dont answer calls, they do not replay to tickets, when they reply after about four days, the never provide any sensible solution to your ticket, and then they will just close off the ticket as resolved. What a frustration. Then you have to reopen the ticket. I am moving a way from them too.
I am very disappointed that Gridhost lost its awesome customer service! I had the same unsatisfied experience recently after not being in contact with them for a long time! Please guys recommend a new South African Host Company as we need to move one from this one now!
