Deceptive Business Practices

I have worked in IT for over 20 years and began my career at Microsoft. GoDaddy is purposely participating in deceptive business practices by moving their once free email services to Microsoft 365. They failed to communicate that ...Read Moreyou either pay for Microsoft 365 or have no email accounts at all. The fee is $24 per email for the first year and then $72. The communication regarding this was incomplete and deceptive.

I called GoDaddy and they had no solution other than to pay for a product I already own, in fact, they couldn't care less that they lied and damaged my business communications by deleting all my email accounts. I recorded the entire conversation and their lack of support was appalling. I'm suing and do NOT recommend GoDaddy for any services.

Best bad company!

Three years ago, I bought and established my first company website, seabeauty face shop. Adding website content is not easy for me as a non-professional. I invested a lot of time and energy in adding the products I was going to se...Read Morell to my store. Less than three months after I put it into use, my store had technical problems - when I logged in to my store to buy, the page kept shaking. After contacting customer service, I was told to let me use different settings. Prepare to log in, but the results are the same. The page jitters, and the product information cannot be browsed normally, let alone the purchase transaction cannot be completed. Once again, I reported the problem of the website to your technical department, and the answer was that there was no problem with logging in to my website from your technician's computer. So I took a picture of the fault and sent it to the technician. The reply was still that their computer did not have this problem. As for why all my devices had these problems, they could not explain or provide any help. My website is unuseable, and I still have to pay a monthly fee to retain the domain name and build the website, which is very unreasonable/! I couldn't get a satisfactory answer after contacting customer service many times, and the problem could not be solvent. In desperation, I decided to retain the domain name and stop building my website through your company. Just this year, when your company asked me to renew the domain name, you took out the domain name of my website for auction due to my one-day delay in payment. In early December, I received an email from your company asking if I wanted to renew my account and renew the website seabeauty face sho. P Right of use, because the concept of professional terms in the computer field is not very clear, in order to prevent confusion of definitions and purchase errors, I specially called your company's customer service staff to confirm to them repeatedly the letter you sent me to indicate that the account has been restored. Is it a seabeauty face s Give me the domain name ownership of hop and let me renew it. After getting the affirmative answer, I confirmed with the customer service the specific cost amount of renewing the domain name. The customer service staff also specifically asked me whether to pay US dollars or Canadian dollars. After getting an accurate quotation, I logged in to my account to pay and received a receipt for successful payment. But just two days ago, you emailed me again to cancel my account, which was so annoying! I called customer service, and you said that the fee I paid through paypal did not complete the transaction, but I received a receipt for the successful payment. Your customer service told me again that I bought website construction, not to retain my domain name. May I ask, if the domain name is not sure that it belongs to me, who will buy and build a website that the domain name does not belong to me? Your explanation is too funny and annoying. Any purchase should be the purchase of a domain name before it may incur the cost of building a website, and the order of the two payments cannot be reversed. The cancellation of the purchase of your website construction three years ago was very dissatisfied with your customer service. Three years later, the domain name incident completely lost a trace of trust in your company. You are a failed unreputable company that can't protect the interests of customers. If the benefits you can get are obtained by such a means, it is extremely stupid behaviour!Less

GoDaddy is well-known to every hosting newbie and expert, and this review of GoDaddy will help you decide if it’s the perfect solution for your hosting needs. Tens of millions of people trust GoDaddy with their websites and web applications, and more people are flocking to the platform.

In the rest of this piece, I’ll give you a rundown of the host’s pricing plans, support, user-friendliness and overall features… and why I’d recommend them to you. Let’s dive in!

GoDaddy Review

GoDaddy was founded in 1997 by entrepreneur Bob Parsons. The platform now has a whopping 22 million customers worldwide, hosts over 84 million domains, and is home to millions of websites.

GoDaddy offers web, VPS, and dedicated hosting as well as a suite of plans dedicated to WordPress and WordPress-native apps (WooCommerce, etc). GoDaddy also provides third-party reseller plans and the GoDaddy Pro plan (multi-site management). In all, GoDaddy has so many hosting options which is why I decided to review them.

GoDaddy consistently receives very high reviews from satisfied customers and review companies. GoDaddy scored an A+ rating on BBB and an overall rating of 4.7/5 on Trustpilot (polled from over 59,000+ reviews).

Pros and Cons

  • A wide set of hosting plans
  • Great value for money
  • Straightforward to set up and use

Rating Breakdown

There are a ton of hosts available on the market. To effectively compare and rate hosts, our experts at HostAdvice created a standardized hosting rating methodology that rates hosts based on how they perform in relation to their competitors.

This allows you to get the most accurate representation of the host’s quality in each metric, which helps in deciding the best for your website. Let’s take a look at GoDaddy’s ratings.

ParameterScoreWhy we gave this score
PRICES8.0While their hosting packages are great, GoDaddy is certainly not the cheapest option in the market, though they’re not the most expensive either. So an 8.0 rating is quite suitable.
FEATURES9.0A free domain & SSL, SSD, free CDN, and many other great features. However, GoDaddy only offers free migrations for managed WordPress.

Specifically, I rate GoDaddy highly at 9.0 for the impressive amount of plugins, themes and extensions for WordPress.

PERFORMANCE 9.2Excellent performance – 250 ms average response time, 99.9% uptime guarantee, high-performance SSD, etc.

Though 99.9% is quite standard, I give GoDaddy a high 9.2 rating for its wide server network.

USER FRIENDLINESS9.0Very user-friendly. Clean UI, popular app installs, a modern cPanel, and the GoDaddy builder for hassle-free site development. Not to mention their incredibly intuitive user management dashboard.

The main reason I gave GoDaddy a rating of 9.0 is for its incredibly intuitive website builder.

SUPPORT8.0GoDaddy offers 24/7 support through a vast knowledgebase, phone, email, and socials. However, I’d give them 8.0 because they do not support live chat.

Next, let’s look at GoDaddy’s performance. Specifically, we’ll rate GoDaddy’s performance based on three important metrics namely – speed, uptime, and average website loading time. These metrics are absolutely crucial to consider, but what do they mean?

To find out a host’s server speed, we simply look at its “time to first byte” (or TTFB) value, which shows the speed by which the servers can send the first byte of data to a user visiting your website.

A host’s uptime is basically their “online time”, which is how consistently the server stays accessible on the internet within a time period. A higher uptime means less downtime, which bodes well for your website.

Finally, your website’s average load time is how long it takes for a web page to be fully loaded. Fully loaded as in functional (i.e its elements can be clicked)

These metrics together determine how well your site will perform on the host. If your host has a high TTFB, then your site will be delivered quicker. If your host has a high uptime (99% by industry standard) then your site will be offline far less. Finally, page loading time is mostly determined by the content of your website.

Like most hosts on the market, GoDaddy promises a 99.9% uptime guarantee. But I used GTMetrix to test everything myself. I ran the test on corporatelaw.jdsupra.com – a website hosted on GoDaddy.

These were the results:

The website’s TTFB was an impressive 150 ms and it’s fully loaded time of 1.2s, which is very good. They also had an excellent overall performance of 94%:

Level Of Support

GoDaddy offers 24/7 support via phone, email, and a vast knowledgebase. Live chat is only available at the United States subdomain (on the bottom of the products page)

Phone Support

The easiest way to reach GoDaddy’s support team is by calling their telephone number. Phone support is free-of-charge and perfect if you need answers to urgent questions or solutions to urgent problems.

Final: GoDaddy brand review

They provide an extensive list of international lines in their Global Directory. There you can find the number to call based on your location.

If you’d rather figure out things by yourself, GoDaddy provides a resource center comprising blog articles, GoDaddy guides, online courses and videos, and a large user community.

User-Friendliness – Ease of use

GoDaddy’s registration and sign-up process is incredibly easy and straightforward. To register on GoDaddy and have a functioning hosting account, you’ll have to buy one of their hosting plans.

Here’s how to sign up for an account on GoDaddy:

Visit the homepage and click the “Start for Free” button:

Final: GoDaddy brand review

You’ll be redirected to a page where you’ll be prompted to sign up with your email, Google account or Facebook.

Final: GoDaddy brand review

Once you choose an account and click Sign up, an account will be created for you and you’ll be prompted to configure your hosting account in a 2-step process. Fill in your info and personal details accordingly

Final: GoDaddy brand review

In this case, I’m being asked what I want to name my website with. Once you have chosen a preferred name, click next to proceed. You’ll be led to your intuitive website builder to customize your website’s layout and UI

Final: GoDaddy brand review

Here you can build elements from scratch or download already-made themes from the marketplace to save time.

GoDaddy Control Panel

Upon signing up, GoDaddy gives you access to a modern updated version of the traditional cPanel control panel from where you’re going to manage your website and configure your hosting account.

Final: GoDaddy brand review

To log in to your cPanel, simply Go to your GoDaddy product page. Under Web Hosting, next to the Linux Hosting account you want to use, click Manage. Now you’re in the Dashboard for your Linux Hosting account.

Installing WordPress on GoDaddy

The best part of using GoDaddy hosting is that you have WordPress pre-installed on all shared and WordPress hosting plans. It doesn’t just stop there, the WordPress CMS is pre-installed with access to thousands of extensions, plugins, and themes.

Final: GoDaddy brand review

Your WordPress is also updated automatically. That way, you don’t need to worry about installing the right WordPress version because GoDaddy handles it for you!

Add an email account on GoDaddy

The process for setting up email accounts on GoDaddy is quite straightforward. Here are the steps:

Sign in to your Email & Office Dashboard (use your GoDaddy username and password).

Click Add user to create an account. Keep in mind that, as a previously deleted user, you won’t be allowed to use your credit to do this until the previous account is deleted.

Choose one of the following steps based on the number and type of users you presently have in your account:

  • If multiple accounts are present, select your preferred Microsoft 365 account type then click Get started.
  • If only one account is present, just skip this step and proceed.
  • If there are no users at all, then you need to purchase a new Microsoft 365 account so you can add users.

Pick your preferred domain and click Continue. You can also link an external domain. Provide the required details in the Create new email account page. Click Create and you’re all done. Final: GoDaddy brand review

Conclusion: Do We Recommend GoDaddy?

Without a doubt, yes. GoDaddy is one of the best web hosts in the world. Why else would 21 million people use their services? Their plans are reasonably priced and give you value for your money.

It’s also very easy to use, regardless of whether you’re a hosting newbie or a hosting expert. Their support is excellent, though the only issue would be their lack of support for live chat in certain domains.

Not to mention their solid, feature-rich WordPress plans which provide everything you need to host and manage your WordPress site without hassles.

Overall, I thoroughly recommend them!

What types of hosting services does GoDaddy offer?

Although it’s known as the largest domain registrar, GoDaddy also offers various hosting services: web hosting, windows hosting, business hosting, WordPress hosting, WordPress eCommerce hosting, VPS hosting, and Dedicated Servers. All hosting services offer several hosting plans with different features and prices.

Is GoDaddy a secure hosting provider?

GoDaddy’s plans come with basic security features such as DDoS protection, protections against viruses, fraud, spam protection, and email privacy. Unfortunately, free SSL certificates are only available with the two most expensive shared web hosting plans, and they’re free only for 12 months. If you want your site to be more protected, you can purchase protection against malware and attacks and SSL protection with firewall and malware protection.

How can I contact the GoDaddy support team?

You have two options available: contact the support team through live chat or phone. The lice chat support is available 24/7, but only Monday to Friday. Before contacting the support, you can try finding the answer to your question in the help center, in the How-to guide videos, or in the community section. GoDaddy doesn’t offer support through ticketing and email.

Does GoDaddy have a website builder?

GoDaddy has an excellent website builder that is free. The website builder contains a lot of built-in marketing tools that will help you create the ultimate website. You can get responsive and mobile-friendly templated, built-in SEO tools, and A. I powered advice by GoDaddy InSight. The website builder is free, but you’ll need to upgrade to an online store once you’re ready to start selling.

Does GoDaddy have a money-back guarantee, and how can I request a refund?

GoDaddy has a 30-days money return policy, which means that if you’re not satisfied with your purchased product, you can return it in 30 days and get a full refund. You need to contact the support team through phone or live chat to request a refund.

What kind of support does GoDaddy offer?

GoDaddy offers 24/7 via phone calls and a support email. You can only access live chat on their US website’s product page. They provide over 50 global lines which make it easy for international customers to reach them.

What is the best GoDaddy package for WordPress?

GoDaddy offers four WordPress plans in total but recommends its Deluxe plan as it supports fast-growing sites with requisite resources. For bigger sites, you can go for a higher-up plan.

Is GoDaddy good for beginners?

Yes. GoDaddy’s user interface is clean and easy to navigate, their cPanel is quite modern and the hosting dashboard is also beginner-friendly.

What is GoDaddy’s review on Trustpilot?

GoDaddy currently has an overall score of 4.7 compiled from 59,102 reviews.
