Affordable hosting with questionable reputation
Cheapest Unlimited Hosting is based out of Jharnkland, India and offers a variety of hosting options at discount prices. Potential users should be aware that their internet security may trigger a warning message about potential phishing originating from the site, as my McAfee Security Center did. While this may be simply due to the foreign location, URL, or other factors, further investigation is probably warranted. That being said, Cheapest Unlimited Hosting advertises that they are high-quality resellers and provide generous allowances for bandwidth, traffic and other performance indicators that most customers look for.Read More
Uptime & Reliability
Nice reliabile hosting with a great guarantee
While not widely touted throughout the site as are other claims, a 99.9% uptime guarantee is listed at the bottom of the homepage, with a double money-back guarantee. This is surprisingly good since they do so much to keep their prices down. It seems clear that they don't sacrifice on the quality of their infrastructure.
Inexpensive pricing leaves some features out
Cheapest Unlimited Hosting, as the name implies, is dedicated to providing low-cost web solutions with domain registration, VPS, web hosting and reseller programs on their menu. Throughout the website, different specials or combinations are offered to entice new customers, proclaiming “unmetered space and transfer” for many packages and generous disk space on all but the very low priced entry level plans. These entry level packages still provide ample storage of 4GB and 40GB of bandwidth. All items appear to be free of setup charges and instant activation is also featured.
VPS is offered with physical hosting being shown with locations in India, Netherlands and the United States with availability on both Linux and Windows platforms. As you might expect, with bargain prices for VPS service, support is listed as “basic” with the statement “full management will cost you extra” for those VPS operating in the US. The extra cost isn’t listed, but I noticed that backup service is not included with the pre-packaged plans.
For VPS operating in the Netherlands, a statement is made that Cheapest Unlimited Hosting is unable to monitor individual servers, but if any complaints are registered against you content will have to be removed. While this may be a reasonable statement, it seems likely that an opportunity for your competition or “activists” to get your site shut down without a clear process in place. Descriptions under the Terms of Service give general descriptions, but aren’t specific enough to provide a solid understanding of what is permitted and what is not.
Support is listed as 24/7 with phone support and a ticketing app running, with a 24 hour response SLA listed. Unlike many of their competitors, no FAQ or knowledgebase is displayed. I didn't find any real complaints about the support, but nobody had anything positive to say either.
Very low pricing
As stated in their name and in numerous sections throughout their site, Cheapest Unlimited Hosting offers prices as low as $1.95 a month for the “bronze” package with 4 GB of storage, 40 GB of bandwidth, and the ability to host up to 5 domains. The “silver” package increases storage to 10 GB and bandwidth to 100 GB and up to 10 domains. With the “gold” package, storage increases to 25 GB and unmetered bandwidth.
VPS services are listed at what might not be discount prices, with Linux VPS starting at $79.95 for the Netherlands-based and $99.95 for those in the US. For Windows, prices are $99.95 monthly and are limited to physical servers located in the United States.
Reselling is promoted at $9.95 for the first month and $19.95 thereafter, with unmetered space and unmetered transfer with the ability to host up to 300 domains.
Not bad for the price
With the numerous warnings that McAfee protection gave me, I have to admit that I would be hesitant to provide Cheapest Unlimited Hosting with any of my financial information or depend on their services without an in-person recommendation. While the packages and features, not to mention price, are attractive there are simply too many other hosting services available to justify taking any type of risk.
- Great pricing
- Plenty of power for most sites
- Some pages trigger virus/malware warnings
- Site is outdated
