Uptime & Reliability
Little information avaialble
I was a little concerned when I went through the website and didn’t see any uptime guarantees or details about the data center City Wide Host’s operates or partners with. Also missing was a list of customer testimonials, which I always take with a grain of salt for just about any business, but testimonials can offer a sense of what a company is like to do business with.
Features
Nice hosting with plenty of options
The company offers the usual fare: web hosting, VPS, dedicated servers and reselling. The distinction City Wide Host makes is that they stress that their business is helping customers grow their business, something that doesn’t always come through on other hosting sites.
The company offers web development and webmaster services; products that seems logical to be offered alongside hosting solutions but I’ve noticed most sites are interested only in hosting. City Wide Host seems to have identified a niche that many customer should find attractive—the ability to have a “one-stop shop” for all of their web needs; their web page states that if a customer isn’t happy, they’ll “eat their mouse”!
One service I hadn’t seen on a web hosting site before is offered: telephony services. VOIP and PBX management to provide voice solutions to organizations that need help with either VOIP or PBX support. City Wide Host lists a partnership with several hardware/software vendors for these items.
Support
Outsourced tech support
Customer support is listed as being supplied by a company called “Bobcares”. While this may let City Wide Host focus on their core business, a third party provider is sometimes limited in their ability, whether or not support is on-site (to provide physical resets for dedicated hosting) is not specified. However, there is a ticketing portal, phone link, FAQ and tutorials listed on the support page.
Pricing
Very affordable pricing
City Wide Host is definitely striving to keep customer expense at a minimum, with their lowest capacity package being only $49.95 annually. This package includes 50 MB of web space, 5GB of monthly transfer, 1000 email accounts, the ability to have three add-on domains, FTP, customer error pages and many other features that aren’t always available at this price. Noticeably, all services are included with all packages, from the entry level to the “Xtreme” package offered at $189.00 a year with more allowances such as storage, bandwidth, etc increasing as the price increases.
Reseller hosting starts at $199.00 annually, with the entry-level package including 1 GB of web space and 35 GB of monthly transfer, with capacity increasing up to 5 GB web space and 100 GB of monthly transfer on the “Xtreme” reseller package at $599.50 per year.
VPS hosting prices range from $25.95 to $88.50 monthly with a $25.00 setup fee for all accounts. RAM, disk space, and other features appear to be generous. Prices for dedicated servers are not listed, but rather refer the customer to a contact number. While this procedure may be unattractive to some, it seems reasonable to be able to present City Web Host with your exact standards and needs if this service is required.
PBX services are offered at $65.00 per hour.
