Canvas Host are a US based hosting company who offer 4 plan selections which ranged from shared web hosting up to dedicated servers. Prices are in-line with the industry average, and they cater for small companies up to large companies.
All hosting plans are also powered by renewable energy, making Canvas Host one of the more greener options out there.
With a 30-day money back guarantee, uptime that climbs up to 99.9% and automatic weekly backups, you instantly get a positive feeling that Canvas Host have got your back no matter what. Whilst you never want to experience an unreliable host it helps give a confidence boost if you can see stats like this that prove how good a site really is.
Add to this the fact that Canvas Host have a page dedicated to a data centre tour around the Portland located data facility, as well as a page on how they power their servers through renewable energy resources, and you really do get sold on the company.
Under the web hosting section you will find yourself in-front of 3 different plan types – Plan A through to Plan C. The entry level plan offers enough features and space to get you up and running with a small-time website whilst the highest tiered plan provides more room for saleability.
Plan A gives a user 3GB of storage, 60GB of bandwidth, up to 3 website and 5 subdomains and 10 MySQL databases, you can also make use of up to 20 email accounts. What you get here is definitely good value for money.
At the top of the site you are instantly drawn to the social media channels that Canvas Host have a presence on, along with a toll free US number, UK number and Portland Number. A knowledgebase, ticket system and a customer login area can be accessed from the dedicated support area on the site.
Live chat is missing, as too is a direct email address, which some people may be disappointed about.
Canvas Host provides some eye-catching prices, especially when you match them up alongside the features and tools that come under the price tag. For this, they definitely compete with some of the best companies out there at the moment.
Plan A under the shared web hosting platform falls in at $5.25 per month and climbs to $17.50 for the highest plan offering.
You will be glad to know that cPanel comes as part of each web hosting plan which is a breath of fresh air for any seasoned website owners out there, and is a piece of cake for those that need to learn the ways of cPanel (it’s easy to pickup and use).
You will also have a pleasant experience on the site as everything is laid out nicely for you to be able to head to the section you want, straight away.
Overall Canvas Host offer a reliable and appealing service that targets anyone from a small business owner to a medium sized company looking to get ahead. Prices offered by the hosting company are very much in-line with competition sites, but Canvas Host tend to offer better features , extras and no hidden charges.
There wasn’t much that we could pull them up on, great service.
Absolutely shocking...do not even think about email /server hosting. I am UK based and although they show a UK support number it is never picked up. Their recent server migration has been a fiasco resulting in several days of not being able to receive/send emails and have lost hundreds of saved mail. Now 2 weeks in and still issues. Try and call them....no response. Clueless.
Listen, I love Canvas Host and their mission, but their prices and support are something important to me. As a fellow Oregonian, I would love to support canvas host. They are local and have an office right here in downtown. The only problem is that I tried submitting multiple sales tickets to them, all of which got closed without any response. I thought I accidentally got IP blocked or something, so I switched emails and changed wifi and again, my ticket was closed without a response. I then left several voicemails on their sales line, and no call back.
After numerous tries, I decided to press 2 and talk to support. A nice man answered, and he was defiently professional and spoke fluent english. Right off the bat I can tell this guy is out sourced. As a web develpo, I know the sound of a tawk.to chat starting, and I heard multiple chats buzzing and going off while I'm on the phone with this guy. It's obvious he's trying to talk to me while answering chats from different hosts?
How do I know that it's outsoucrd, well first off, he told me. But second, I heard the Tawk.To chat widget going off, and Canvas Host dosn't have a live chat feature, so it was a dead giveaway.
Finally he opened the ticket back up, and then got an email back a few days later saying they can't match my requirement's. I'm not mad that they couldn't meet my required specs because their are things they can and can't do, but the fact that I had to wait weeks, call sales twice and leave voicemails, call Canvas Host support, and then get a ticket response a few days later means I loose money and time.
As a web developer, I've had multiple clients from Canvas Host. Most of them older and unfamilar with what even a website is. They chose Canvas Host because they are local, but when I heard a 3 page, html and CSS website was costing them $35 dollars a month, I was in shock. They told me the sales team reccomend that certain plan for them. These elderly people were trying to run a real estate business and it feels like they got scammed. I told them to get a lower price and leave, because that's almost what I pay for a year for my web hosting. I mean, your shared hosting and reseller hosting prices speak for themselves. I don't know how they do it, but those are prices I would never pay.
But C'mon. $10 a month for 1 hosted website 10 GB storage 50 GB bandwidth 10 MySQL databases
I want to join canvas host, but prices and support like this drives me far away. These prices are like a scam. And it might be because they label themselves as "Eco Website Hosting", but I have a server in Bend Oregon that's also "Eco Website Hosting" and a fraction of your monthly price.
I wish I could be leaving a good review for Canvas Host, but I just can't.
Totally useless company. Cannot get anyone to respond even though I have sent them so many emails to complain. Have not been receiving my emails for nearly a week now and they still haven't sorted it out. Uk office nobody picks up the phone. Only an answering msg and nobody calls back. Really frustrating
Hi Geoff, I am sorry this reply took so long, I only just became aware of the issue.

Moved to Canvas Host to solve my PCI DSS compliance issues
Was hosting with Godaddy; couldn't solve 2 issues with PCI compliance, in spite of having a VPS there. Moved to canvas host; no software changes, just uploaded my backup files. Ran PCI scan, passed with 100%, no warnings, no issues at all, first time.
I recommend them if you need PCI DSS compliant hosting. They have hardened, compliant hosting solutions, framed in a familair CPanel.Net based environment. Won't break your wallet, either.
