Expert Overview
Hosting Based in Mexico since 2001
ArteHosting started off as todoloquequeres.com, back in 2001. In 2007 they changed their name to ArteHosting. The company is based in Mexico, but has servers in Dallas, TX and Michigan. They don’t own the data centers where their servers are located, but they do own the servers. One nice thing about this company is they come right out and tell you that they don’t own the data centers. Most other hosting companies seem to try to hide that fact.
The site is in Spanish by default, but you can click a button to have it automatically translated into English. Unfortunately, their translation is really bad. Whoever wrote it did so with very poor English so it is quite difficult to read. If you take your time, however, you can get what they are trying to say.
The company provides shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers and cloud hosting services. They also work hard to be a ‘green’ hosting company, meaning they use alternative energies and things like that.
Uptime & Reliability
Hosting Seems Very Stable
The hosting with this company seems to be very stable. They don’t offer an uptime guarantee, but I only saw a few people complaining about any outages. They place their servers in very well established data centers that have high quality network connections and redundant power so you won’t experience any outages related to that. They also use good quality hardware so issues with hardware failure will be quite rare. Overall, I’d say their reliability is very good.
Features
Lots of Different Choices
You can choose from any number of different hosting plans that they offer. The shared hosting options start at 4 gigs of disk space and unlimited bandwidth, which is quite nice. They also allow you to make a custom hosting solution, which is not common for shared plans. You also get easy installation of over 200 scripts, the plenty of FTP accounts and much more. When it comes to features for the shared hosting plans, you really do get a lot more than most other hosting providers typically offer.
If you jump up to their dedicated servers you can basically configure your own. They break it up into single, dual or quad core. From there you can specify how much memory and other things you want. It is all quite simple to do and allows you to get the server you want at a price you can afford. VPS hosting is also quite generous with the hardware and other features.
Support
Easy Tech Support
The tech support with this company is easy to work with and get ahold of. They have a nice ticketing system, live chat and phone support too. When you do have an issue they seem to be able to fix it easily. They offer fully managed dedicated servers too, which is a great option for people who want to have the power and flexibility of a dedicated server, but don’t want to be responsible for all the other aspects of it. I don’t see any real self-help information out there though, which is unfortunate.
Price
Very Competitive Pricing
The pricing with this company is quite competitive for what you get. The lowest priced plans start at $4.86 per month, or $33.66 per year. That is an average price for low level hosting, but when you look at the specs you’re getting you will see that it is actually quite generous in terms of value. The prices go up from there, but they are all quite decent. This is not the cheapest hosting company I’ve ever seen, but it really is a good value.
Summary
Good Hosting with a Few Concerns
The hosting you get from ArteHosting is quite good. They are generous with system resources and things like that, and they have a good reputation for providing stable hosting. They have also been around long enough to know what they are doing, while still keeping up with the latest technologies and innovations related to hosting. Some concerns are that they don’t have an uptime guarantee and their site translation into English is very poor.
