7SkyHost was founded back in 2010 and has been growing quite rapidly. They talk about the fact that they started out with just one server in one location and now they have over 50 servers available in many areas including the US and Europe. They offer all types of hosting including shared, VPS and dedicated servers. While they are not the oldest hosting company around, they do seem to be running their business quite well and attracting many new customers. They are based out of the Ukrane, but they have servers in several locations. You can choose where you want your hosting to physically be, which is nice. Overall, this company seems to be keeping up with all the latest trends in web hosting and serving their customers well.
Uptime & Reliability
Very Stable Hosting
I haven’t really found anyone who was complaining about the reliability of this companies servers. Some have said the speed was too slow, which may be an indication that some shared servers are oversold, but there were only a few people saying that so it is hard to say for sure. The company uses high quality hardware and their tech support is good. They also operate in very robust data centers, so there is little risk of having any extended outages.
Features
Lots of Hosting Options to Consider
There are lots of different hosting packages that you can choose from with this company. They start with a ‘tiny’ package that gets you just 5 gigs of disk space and 20 gigs of bandwidth, and it is only $20. This is a surprisingly generous option for people who just want to host personal blogs or things like that. You can then move up through other shared hosting options, which never get you unlimited disk space (max is 50 gigs) but do start to have unlimited bandwidth after the first package. You can then move up to VPS or dedicated hosting packages, which give you more resources, less sharing and better overall service. Of course, it all comes at a higher price. Overall, however, the features you get are all quite good. They have vPanel on all their servers and you get a free domain when you buy an annual hosting plan.
Support
Tech Support Always Available
The technical support teams are always there to help you. They also have a nice blog with some good information, though some how-to items would be nice. The technical support team gets back with you quickly when you’re having issues, at least that is what I’ve found from reading what current and former customers of this company have said.
Pricing
Several Great Price Points
While most of their packages are right in line with what the industry averages would typically offer, they also have a few really good packages. Their ‘small’ shared hosting option, for example, is just $5 per month and you get some nice features. When you move up to VPS and dedicated the prices go up quite a bit, but so does the service you can expect so it is not bad. Their dedicated servers have a lot of technical information with them, which is good for people who are used to looking at this type of thing, but can be confusing for others. Finding the right hosting package for the right price can be a challenge. They have a nice live chat feature to talk to a sales rep, which is nice but it is hard to say if they will recommend the right package for you.
Summary
Overall Good Quality Hosting
This company is a good option for people looking for just about any type of hosting you can need. They seem to do a good job at keeping their technologies up to date and providing friendly service. Some things can be a little confusing, but most experienced webmasters won’t have any trouble with this. Pros:
- Lots of Features
- Good Options at All Levels
- Fast Network Connections
Cons:
- Technical Specs can be Confusing
