MySQL is a database framework written in C & C++ that can be installed on multiple different operating systems and web servers to enable the use of Structured Query Language (SQL) in applications. Almost all of the major and minor web hosting companies offer MySQL support as part of LAMP/WAMP or LEMP (Nginx) servers with PHP, Perl, Python, Node.js. etc. Some web hosts offer PostgreSQL support as well as MySQL or MSSQL on Windows hosts.
MySQL databases power most of the popular open source web scripts like Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, Magento, etc. although many of these can also be run on other frameworks. MySQL is managed directly on web servers through the phpMyAdmin utility which provides access to the database tables directly. MySQL database wizards simplify the creation and deployment process in cPanel. There are a number of different software extensions available to improve MySQL caching on web servers.
