SiteGround Reseller Review (Expert Product Review)

Starting as a local web hosting provider in Bulgaria, SiteGround has become the most popular hosting provider in the world. They have offered excellent quality and stable service to their customers, and they have incredible hosting packages. Today, we’re putting aside all the hosting packages SiteGround has to offer, and we’re focusing on their reseller hosting!

Note: Good reseller hosting can help you start a successful business and help you earn some money along the way.

The SiteGround reseller hosting can help you build and manage sites for your client and give you access to your team members to help you in the process. It also allows you to manage white-label hosting services and resell custom packages and user access.

SiteGround claims that they can help you manage your sites from a single dashboard. Another great thing they’re offering is quickly adding new sites with a few clicks. I particularly liked that the hosting provider gives access to a wide range of tools that can help you build and manage sites.

All these features sound great on paper, but do they work like they claim to do? If you’re considering purchasing SiteGround reseller hosting, join me in my journey to discover everything this hosting has to offer. Let’s put one of the best hosting providers to the test!

Getting Started with SiteGround Reseller Plans

When I opened their site, the first thing I saw was their great logo. They say that they make your client site management more manageable, and who doesn’t like easy? I wonder if it’s also easy to manage sites on SiteGround even if you don’t have quality tech knowledge? Well, we’ll discuss this later too.

Another thing they claim is that they’re a trusted hosting partner that will give you all the tools needed to resell hosting and manage multiple sites easily. So far, I like what I’m seeing. Can all these claims be accurate? Let’s see what types of plans this hosting has to offer! SiteGround reseller hosting offers three plans: GrowBig, GoGeek, and Cloud.

Getting Started with SiteGround Reseller Plans

When I saw the plans, the first thing I noticed was the vast price differences. GrowBig and GoGeek are more affordable, while Cloud is more expensive than mentioned previously.

By purchasing any of the plans, you can get: unlimited websites, free WP installation, WordPress auto-updates, accessible drag and drop Weebly site builder, free WP Migrator plugin, daily and on-demand backups, free SSL, free CDN, free email, enabled e-commerce, WP-CLI, and SSH, out-of-the-box caching, unlimited databases, easy staging, and collaborators.

When it comes to security, all plans offer power redundancy, LXC-based stability, unique account isolation, an anti-hack system, proactive updates and patches, spam protection, automated daily backups, and advanced on-demand backups.

Still, I liked the most that the plans offer an option to transfer a website from your account to a different SiteGround client and make recommendations about the hosting plan. This feature is handy for designers, developers, and agencies shipping sites to clients.

Getting Started with SiteGround Reseller Plans

Note: If you’re unsure which plan is the best fit for you, you can easily compare all plans by clicking on Compare Hosting Plans. This option will give you a deeper insight into the plans and what they’re offering.

Now let’s talk about the differences. One of the main differences is the available webspace. The cheapest plan has 20GB of web space, GoGeek has 40GB, and Cloud has more than 40 GB of webspace.

What makes Go Geek and Cloud worth the money? Both plans have white-label clients and priority support. White-label clients options mean that you can register your clients as users on your account and give them white-label access to the Site tools on the sites you build for them. Priority support means that you will get priority with the most experienced support agents available. This option ensures exceptional quality and speed of the technical support provided.

As I already mentioned above, Cloud is the most expensive one, costing seven times more than GoGeek. You get all the mentioned above for that amount of money plus customize client’s access and Tailor site’s resources. The customized client’s access will help you customize the user access to the site’s site tools. You can choose and allow your clients to see as many tools as you wish.

On the other hand, the Tailor site’s resources will help you create custom hosting packages for each created site, specifying the space, traffic, number of databases, etc.

Let’s discuss the WordPress features the plans offer. Each plan has WordPress free Install with a few clicks, straight from the customer area. You’ll also get free automated WordPress transfer that will allow you to transfer WordPress sites to SiteGround.

The WordPress Advanced Security will help you closely monitor the overall security status of your WordPress application and its popular plugins. SiteGround offers automated tools for hassle-free installation and migration through their WordPress Related Support. You will also get preinstalled WP-CLI, SG Optimizer WordPress Plugin, and One-click WordPress Staging. GoGeek and Cloud also offer Git for WordPress repo creation, unavailable with the GrowBig plan. When it comes to performance boosters, all four plans offer servers on four continents, SSD storage, customized server setup based on Linux containers, free Cloudflare CDN with each account, HTTP/2 enabled servers that make the browsers load the websites much faster; super cacher and 30% faster PHP. Their security is pretty good as well. Each of the three plans offers power redundancy, hardware redundancy, LXC-based stability, unique account isolation, faster server monitoring, anti-hack systems, proactive updates and patches, spam protection, automated daily backup, and advanced on-demand backup.

Warning: You need an annual purchase paid in advance for the special price to apply. The special prices are applicable for the first invoice only. When you renew your plan, regular prices apply.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

I think that we’ve discussed enough theory and that it is time to put SiteGround to the test. I have my hopes up high since SiteGround is now one of the best hosting services, so it’s time to find out whether their Reseller hosting is also great. Today I’m going to buy GrowBig. It’s the cheapest plan, but it will help you get a better picture of the service, making it easy to decide whether it is suitable for your business. The first thing that needs to be done is click on Get Plan.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

Here you have the option to purchase the plan for 1,12,24, or 36 months. I chose one month since I’m only purchasing the plan for test purposes.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

Tip: If you’re planning on getting SiteGround for the long run, choose the 36-months plan because it’s the most affordable.
Note: Since I already had an account with SiteGround, I used my account to purchase the Reseller plan directly. If you’re purchasing without an account, you will go through additional steps to fill in the information, such as name, surname, email address, card info, etc. SiteGround’s hosting is also restricted in some countries, so make sure it’s available in your country before purchasing it.

I clicked on getting the plan, and in just a couple of seconds, my order was processed, and my plan was activated. The next thing I’m going to do is set up my site.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

I clicked on the Setup site and got to Step 1, Choose a domain. I had three options: searching and registering a new domain, using my existing domain, or working with a temporary domain. I chose the existing domain option since I already have a domain I use during my little research. I click on Select Existing domain.

Next, I type on my domain name and click on Continue.

A few seconds later, I was given the option to set up my site. I could start a new website or migrate an already existing one. You can also click on ‘skip & create’ an empty site, but since I want to explore everything SiteGround Reseller hosting offers, I clicked on Start a new website.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

Once I clicked on Select, I had to log in with my email or username to proceed. I typed in my email address and clicked on Next.

Then I was asked to type in my password. I did that and clicked on Login.

A couple of seconds later, SiteGround welcomed me and wished me a productive time on their platform.

I clicked on Websites, and as you can see in the image below, there’s my domain. I click on All site options because I want to see it all.

This section has available extra services that you can add to your site. The Sitebuilder, Cloudflare CDN, and SSL are free, while you have to pay a certain amount of money for the SG Scanner and the Dedicated IP.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

I clicked Add on the Sitebuilder, and I got to the Sitebuilder. SiteGround Reseller hosting uses a Weebly drag and drop website builder, making it easy to create a gorgeous website without any technical skills.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

I had four options that could help me build my website. Since the only free-of-charge option was Free, I chose Free and clicked on Activate.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller PlanSetting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

Just like that, I was ready to build my website. The first thing you need to do is choose what you’re going to use the website for. You have many options available: online store, business, portfolio, personal, event, blog, or pre-launch. I decided to build an Online store, so I clicked on Online Store. You have more than ten themes available to build your online store, so choose your favorite.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

Once I chose the theme, I saw fantastic stuff from the website editor.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

The website builder offers countless options to style your website and make it unique. Using the drag-and-drop technique, you can choose your title, add text, images, slide show, map, contact forms and add buttons. You can even personalize the structure of your website. Another excellent part is adding YouTube, Scribd documents, files, and Adobe flash buttons.

Note: There’s also an option to add HD video and audio, but it wasn’t available in my plan. If you want to use these options, you’ll have to upgrade your plan.

Since I decided to build an Online store, I rushed to see what the e-commerce section offers. Using the drag and drop option, I was able to add products for sale on my website.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

I didn’t have any products in my store, so to add products, all you need to do is click on Add products to the store. I was also given the option to categorize the products in my store.

But that wasn’t all; SiteGround offers even more. You can also add quotes to your website, social icons, RSVP forms, a survey, and a feed reader.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

Note: The Search Box is not available with my plan, so if you want it, you would have to upgrade your plan.

You can also edit your pages, the names of the pages, header or no header, their visibility, etc. You can change everything you don’t like and customize the website as you want. Let’s check out the Store section and what it has to offer. If you click on the store, you’ll be able to design your store, add store info, add items, start accepting payments, set up shipping, and set up taxes.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

First, let’s add store information. It would help if you typed in your company’s name, address, email, and phone number. Then, we must add items to our store. Choose the item’s type, title, price, and sale price and give a short description of the product. You also have the option to upload an image of the item.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

After you’re done with the basics, you need to type in the item’s weight and check the box if the item is tax-exempt, or else the customer would have to pay tax.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

Fill in the additional information too. To track the item, you would need an upgrade. Type in the cost of materials to make a single item. You can also allow gift options.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

If the item you’re selling comes in more options, such as sizes and colors, you can easily add those options for your shoppers. You need to click on Add options. Also, if your clients can customize your items, you have to manage the modifiers.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

Another incredible thing is the SEO option control. This option will control what your shoppers see when viewing your item in a search engine. You can fill in the data yourself or use the default item information.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

If you want to make some money, you need to collect payments. The recommended payment is the Square, which is best if you sell online and in person. You have other options available: Stripe, that’s best if you only sell online, and PayPal, which will give your customers more options and increase sales.

Note: You need to upgrade your plan to use PayPal payments.

Unfortunately, the shipping option wasn’t available with my plan. To use these tools, I had to upgrade, but I managed to snap some photos to see the given options for shipping.

The reality is that if you’re planning on shipping your products, you won’t be able to do it with The GrowBig plan. Another thing you won’t be able to do with the GrowBig plan? Add tax rates. I mean, you can add tax rates, but they will not be available to customers until you upgrade.

Note: Taxes are calculated based on your business location and the location of the buyer.

Here’s some excellent news! You can create a coupon exclusively for online use. Coupons always attract new customers and reward your best patrons.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

Once you’re done with customizing your website, you have the option to upgrade or publish. If you’re willing to spend more money and make improvements to your site, click Upgrade, but if you’re satisfied with the site just as it is, click on Publish.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

Since I have already set up my website, it’s time to check out the Dashboard. The easiest way to access the Dashboard is to click on Websites. Under Website Details, you can see the name of your domain and your hosting plan. Looking a little, but on the right, you have two buttons: Site Tools and Weebly Admin. Click on Site tools to access your Dashboard.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

The Dashboard starts with the Pinned tool. Here you have quick access to Install & manage WordPress, Email accounts, File manager, and SG Site Scanner. The Install % Manage WordPress button will help you start your WordPress site the easiest way possible. If you just fill out the info and click on Install, your WordPress will be installed in a couple of minutes. What’s great is that you can manage your WordPress from this same tool. That’s awesome. Another awesome thing is that you can also install WooCommerce.

Your Site information such as disk usage, IP, Name servers, and monthly statistics are also available on the Dashboard.

If you click on the Site Button, you will manage your sites, use the FTP transfer protocol to transfer between servers, and use the MySQL manager to add, access, and manage content in a database. What I particularly liked was PostgreSQL. This option is also available in the Site section. For those of you who don’t know what it’s used for, PostgreSQL is an open-source object-relational database system that uses the SQL language combined with many other features that safely store the most complicated data workloads. PostgreSQL is known for its stable architecture, data integrity, and reliability, and it allows custom functions developed using different programming languages like C/C++, Java, and many more.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

In terms of security, the GrowBig plan offers daily backups. You can create a backup manually or allow automated backups. All backups are kept 30 days after the creation.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

This plan also has an SSL manager that encrypts all traffic that goes through your website; HTTPS enforce that will enforce your website to work over an encrypted and secure HTTPS connection; Protected URLs that will help you limit access to specific URLs on your website; Blocked IP that will prevent your website from being hacked; and SG Site Scanner which can detect malware.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

Note: If you wish to use the SG Site Scanner, you’ll have to spend more money because it’s not free. The scanner scans your files, URL, and domain names daily; it will give you daily reports about your website’s status and alert you if there’s malware. All these options come with a price tag, so take out your credit card if you want to use these options.

In terms of speed, you’ll have access to the Supercacher and Cloudflare. The Supercacher will increase the number of hits a site can handle and boost your loading speed. My SiteGround reseller hosting plan has three caching options for maximum optimization, handling 100 times more hits than an ordinary website without caching.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

The Cloudflare CDN, on the other hand, will speed up your website when you have geographically dispersed traffic across multiple countries. It will also protect your site by analyzing which traffic is legitimate and which is malicious.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

The WordPress section will help you quickly Install and Manage WordPress with just a click. The Staging copies can also help you create, manage, and deploy staging copies of your WordPress site with a couple of clicks. Staging copies is also an incredible tool because it will allow you to test anything before the actual deployment.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

The Migrator will help you quickly migrate WordPress sites in just a few clicks. I’m starting to like SiteGround because everything seems to be done with a few clicks! They seem like real-time-savers! The plan automatically updates all your WordPress installations hosted with SiteGround, which will ensure your website security. Let’s talk domain!

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

You can add parked domains through your Dashboard, which are additional domains used to reach your site. You can also create subdomains to organize your site into different sections. You also get the opportunity to redirect one URL to another and use the DNS zone editor, which translates human-readable domain names into IP addresses.

Through the Email section, you’ll be able to create an email that matches your site’s name. You’re going to look professional having an email with a domain.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

The Forwarders will help you easily redirect emails from one mailbox to another, and the Email Autoresponders will notify your senders when you’re unavailable. You have the option to schedule your autoresponders for a specific period. The Filters will enable you to quickly set up different rules for email processing on domain and user level. Email Authentication will enable you to set up rules preventing email spoofing, and Spam protection will help you filter out and eliminate spam.

The statistics button will give you insight into your traffic and your error logs and help you see who has recently visited your website.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

We’ve reached the end of our Dashboard, and there we have the last button called DEVS. Here you are offered the options to create a Git repository of your application and deploy updates. To access this tool, I needed to upgrade my plan. Since I’m not planning to upgrade right now, I’m moving to another tool called Cron Jobs. This tool can help you automate commands or scripts on your site, but you need to be more understanding with Linux commands to work with the tool.

Setting Up a SiteGround Reseller Plan

The PHP Manager will allow you to check the PHP version of each of your applications and quickly change it to the last vastly adopted one. The SSH Keys manager provides secure access over an encrypted connection to your site. This manager will help you quickly manage your files and folders, modify permissions, etc. And for the grand finale, we have the App installer. The app installer will help you quickly start your site by installing one of the most popular applications. In just a few minutes, the app will be available to you.

Ease of Use and Customer Support

I had a smooth experience with the SiteGround Reseller plan. It’s a perfect plan even for beginners since everything is well explained, so you don’t need a lot of prior experience to set things up. The best part was that 70% of the stuff could be done in just a few clicks. I got excited about this since they managed to create plans that are easy to use and save you a lot of time.
SiteGround also offers excellent support through their help center, tutorials, and Knowledge base.

Ease of Use and Customer Support

SiteGround offers many guides and tutorials to help customers manage their plans as easily as possible to support their customers. Their knowledge base contains countless articles written by their experts, which probably answers any possible question you might have. The knowledge base will also come in handy if you want to learn more about hosting and other stuff in the business, in general. The best thing is that they provide 24/7 assistance through chat, tickets, and phone support. They have their number on their website, so if you’re more of a fan of live interaction, you quickly call them and ask for help.

It’s super easy to use, you don’t need to have any technical skills since everything is amazingly explained, and almost everything can be installed with a few clicks.

The Dashboard is also easy to use, and it will give you a proper insight into everything that’s offered. The plan has excellent performance, speed, and top-notch customer support to help you solve any issue you might experience. I also find the website builder very easy to use and offers a great range of options to customize it just as you like it. The bottom line is that each plan is cleverly made suitable for different workflows.

The plan I purchased, the GrowBig plan, is great if you are reselling hosting without giving access to the clients to their site’s control panel. This plan can help you manage multiple sites and give you access to your team members to help you. If you want to give access to your clients to their stores, you can easily assign the users with the white-label access that is available with the GoGeek plan. And lastly, if you want your clients to get a different portion of the hosting resources and access only the tools of your choice, then the Cloud plans are the best options.
