Nutanix and Hewlett Packard Enterprise extended their partnership by delivering a new database-as-a-service that combines the Nutanix Era with HPE’s ProLiant servers through HPE Greenlake.
Nutanix Era is a multi-database operation and management solution. Bundled with the HPE ProLiant DX servers, it will enable users to combine the advantages of a public and a private cloud environment.

Customers will enjoy a public cloud’s simplicity and agility, deploying applications and databases in minutes and enjoying pay-per-use capabilities. In other words, there will be no up-front purchases. However, they will also receive the control and security of a private cloud.
HPE ProLiant DX customers receive the same Nutanix compute, storage, virtualization, network functionality, and intuitive, consumer-grade management.
Currently, customers can choose among many HPE ProLiant DX appliances, including 1U and 2U form factors with 1, 2, and 4-node models, along with configure-to-order options. The latter include Intel Xeon Cascade Lake and AMD Epyc 7002 series processors, various memory, storage types, disk form factors and capacities, and access to different platform combinations.
Keith White, who serves the role of senior vice president and general manager at HPE, had this to say:
Customers want to simplify database operations and management to move away from IT siloes that can often lead to higher maintenance costs, security risks, and lack of flexibility to deploy and run solutions. By building on our successful collaboration with Nutanix, together the HPE GreenLake and the Nutanix Era database operations and management software solution will increase agility, simplify operations and cut costs by delivering a fully managed cloud offering.
Nutanix and HPE have been collaborating successfully for years now. In fact, both companies witnessed a significant increase in ACV bookings of approximately 80% during the first calendar quarter of 2021.
Rajiv Ramaswami, who serves the role of CEO at Nutanix, stated:
HPE clearly is the one that’s been growing the fastest for us overall in terms of the OEM relationships for us. I would say Dell is more a fulfillment [relationship] as we partner together and customers want to land our solution in Dell hardware – Dell supports that. So I would say HPE and Lenovo, to the extent that they are in markets where they are strong, continue to be, from a server perspective, very good partners for us.
Nutanix continues to partner up with the world’s largest hardware vendors, such as Lenovo, to provide more consumption-based, database-as-a-service offers. Also, they strive to push their channel partners to sell more of the Nutanix portfolio outside its core hyper-converged infrastructure software.
HPE GreenLake with Nutanix Era for databases as a pay-as-you-go solution will be available to the market starting July.
